Hello guys,

I will be moving to a new separate house soon and will be purchasing a couple of new pairs of speakers.

I will need 2 speakers for my home theater (it will have one ported 12" subwoofer), which will be simply 2.1 (no surround) for now.
and 2 speakers for my music system.

My budgets are
$1000 for 2 speakers for my HT
$3000 for 2 speakers for my music system (which will have two 18" subwoofers)
Or I may decide to go all in and purchase some end game speakers for my music system. Theoretically I can increase my budget to $10000 for 2 speakers here if I'll be sure it's "endgame" speakers for me.
I don't really have any specific requirements. I don't care about how they will look and how big or small they will be. I only care about sound quality.

So my question is:
What in your experience are the best speakers:
- in $1000 budget (per pair)
- in $3000 budget
- in $10000 budget
?

Thank you.

Kind regards,
Pavel

Welcome to ASR !

When using a subwoofer, consider auditioning a pair of AsciLab F6BS loudspeakers - when back in stock

$10K recommendation from me:
1. Neumann KH310A (or the soon to be released new model)
2. Genelec, choose the biggest coax model that fits in the budget

I’m not sure if your budget allows for Dutch 8c or Kii 3.

^ all of the above are active speakers

Before spending a lot on speakers, I would want to have a flexible subwoofer crossover and the tools to set it up, some sort of electronic room correction capability, and possibly physical acoustic room treatments, all of which are likely to add more sound quality per dollar than more expensive speakers.

KEF are pretty good out of the box and do not need much EQ, except for lower frequencies, where the room dominate.
These are full range but are also in a price range where you have more options for sale, if you regret one day.
Plug the port and make a smooth transition to subwoofers, and you'll have an awesome system.

I agree. Calibration can be more important than upgrading your speakers/subwoofers. I already have a calibration UMIK-1 mic which allowed me to greatly improve the sound quality of my current system (using REW + Equalizer APO software) and miniDSP Flex will arrive tomorrow to provide control of individual channels (each speaker and each subwoofer channels).

And thank you everyone for the suggestions so far! I appreciate your help and I will look into all of them.

Do I understand correctly that in KEF Q11 the tweeter and mid-range driver are located at the same place? How does it work? I don't think I've seen it.

You haven't seen a coaxial driver yet? I suggest that you look up the several reviews of KEF speakers, Genelec speakers (8331 - 8361) , Sigberg Audio and other manufacturers here or elsewhere.

Imagine a midrange with a larger diameter coil/pole piece. Then you place the tweeter in the middle with a small waveguide that very smoothly cross to the midrange cone. When you look closely it's very neatly done.
This - besides the baffle influence - gives you a very coherent frequency range from around 400Hz and up, which radiate equally in all directions. So you almost eliminate that change in sound you often hear from normal speakers, if you either sit higher or lower in relation to midrange/tweeter.
I love my KEF because you get awesome imaging and less influence from the room.
