I travel for the winter and always bring a Portable Speaker. I have used the Bose Sound Link II for over 5 years now and it is still a great sounding speaker.
I was wondering if there is a much better sounding speaker the same size or smaller as the Bose Sound Link II ? I use a Raspberry Pi as an Input for Qobuz, Tunein Radio and my 5,000+ Album library.

I used to be in the portable speaker business and listened to quite a few, but it was several years ago. At that size you won't be able to get dramatically better sound. If you are willing to go larger (like traditional boombox size) the stuff from JBL and House of Marley used to be the ones that kept us up at night, Anker also has a very strong value prop at slightly lower price points.

Thanks for this ! --- A very helpful tool for this !

Beats pill you must use the USB connection, if your using android use USB audio player pro app.
You will be very surprised using flac files.

Just keep in mind the best experience I've had is in smaller rooms bed room beside bed lights off at bedtime. Happiness and Joy.

House of marley bag of riddium is crappy for Bluetooth it shines with aux port and above android app using flac files and if couse the Fosi audio DS1 DAC very nice but not at highest volume area.
I'm not purely satisfied with it yet it's new to me but so far seems like it needs a Playlist as some tracks even though quality rips in flac just hit to hard in the mid range with drums making it obvious.
Maybe just needs some more break in time...?
I purchased it on sale $200 canadian before tax for that price since I bought the dac for other use it was worth the price.
If the mid range stops hitting so obviously on only a couple songs so far, I'll keep it as im getting close to end of Amazon return limit.

Tribit stormbox blast is fun at 90 watts with lots of bass it's a fun Bluetooth Speaker for none critical listening you can listen to radio online when lower quality tracks are playing it's not as obvious as the bag of riddium.

Other small speakers from the reviews I`ve researched of the same size as Beats Pill won`t come close to the same quality of sound purity.

Apple is worth a bit on this item.

Keep in mind I only bought it as it was on sale before $169 Canadian !!!

I wouldn't have even considered it at the regular price you might as well get a very sweet pair of headphones for a bit more like HD 600 that is on sale at the moment but a Dac makes all the difference if your playing from your cellphone I`m using the Android app mentioned above so far only Flac files I`m very happy and don`t even want to try higher priced ones !

For reference sakes I already have the highly praised ATH M50X that I love since I started using the DAC and app, the above mentioned ones are have no doubts a very noticeable step above in purity, That said I`m keeping the ATH M50X for outside walks as they are also great for the price considering the Market standards. For me the HD 600 are more for critical listening or quiet room focused enjoyment.

I bought the HD 600 a few days ago Tax included Canadian $425.... Free shipping from Amazon they were sold from Amazon so returns are a no brainer easy no questions asked.

If you want durability not having to worry the Beats pill will bring much joy at bedside, bathroom or easy listening in travel environments, worth trying if it`s on sale.
