Best settings for bit-perfect playback in JRiver?

I’ve been using JRiver Media Center on Windows for local music playback and recently started noticing occasional stuttering/dropouts during playback. It seems more noticeable with high-resolution files, but sometimes even normal FLAC playback gets small hiccups.

System usage doesn’t look very high, so I’m not sure if it’s an output setting, buffering issue, or something else in Windows causing it. I’m currently using WASAPI output.

Has anyone experienced something similar or found settings that improved stability?

This has nothing to do with bit perfection ( Preventing any DSP changing the bits to do stuff like volume control, eq or tone control etc), and much more to do with actual drop outs or bit errors - probably caused by buffer over or under runs.

If it previously ran find - look for any system changes you've made just before it started. Expecially installing software that loads at startup, bacground tasks etc. Also run a virus scan.


EDIT - how are you connecting from PC to external hardware (DAC or Amp.)

Try ASIO to see if it persists.

Try a bigger buffer.

As already suggested, run Latencymon.
An ill behaving driver might hog the bus.
