I'd rather watch a good SciFi film than a Horror movie

What are your favorites?

Oblivion is pretty good
BladeRunner, of course (haven't seen the new one)
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Earth vs Flying Saucers
I can rewatch the Jurassic Park movies when they come around for free
Forbidden Planet (I own some Krell artifacts)

Ok, somebody else's turn...

I too prefer sci-fi flicks over horror flicks.

There are so many, where to start ...
Ok from best to second best or vice versa ... among a thousands of them.

What just crossed my mind in that very instant ... (5)
• Gravity
• Tron: Legacy
• The Book of Eli
• Looper
• The Invisible Man

Those are not my top favorites, just few that I like that came to mind in the now.
To be continued ... because sci-fi movies matter.

Ray, Blade Runner ... excellent mention.
* The new one ... Blade Runner 2049 ... I highly recommend.

You're a classy sci-fi type of guy.

Agree on The Day the Earth Stood Still, Forbidden Planet, and BladeRunner
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (both versions)
Day of the Triffids (OK)
2001
THX1138

The big problem is that some of the best sci-fi authors have just not translated to film well, only Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 works most other adaptations of his stories only work as TV episodes (IMHO).

If you want to have fun there are dozens of Japanese films with strange social commentary such as Godzilla vs the Smog Monster and all the Roger Corman films. I've spent 60yr. watching them all.

Have you seen Gojira?

It's the Japanese version of Godzilla, without Raymond Burr, and a little bit longer.

Actually, a better movie for it.

My preferred literature and movies by a country mile. A few that comes to mind:
I know I am missing some fantastic ones, but I don't want to abuse :)

Abuse with excess is good. ...When it comes to movies...and music. :)
Contact, good mention. ...Ex_Machina, Gattaca and Solaris...all excellent.
