Best Phono Cartridges- Looking for Expert Reviews and Comparison

I can't recall the name, but wasn't there a company that could re-tip a worn out MC cart so long as the cantilever was not damaged?
Yes, there are a few, but it is several hundred dollars (at least for my Sumiko), and of course there is no guarantee that the sound will be the same. Replacing the stylus on a MM cartridge is usually not terribly expensive, and as long as you are using a genuine replacement you can expect the sound to be pretty much the same.

TBH, I hate the whole idea of nonreplaceable consumables.

IIRCC when all hi fi was on vinyl, it was important to match the compliance of the cartridge to the compliance of the tonearm.

That is, a high compliance cartridge should be paired with a high compliance tonearm. A low compliance tonearm should be paired with a low compliance cartridge.

Not to be confused with capacitance.

TT experts correct me here if I am mistaken.

Another vote for the Ortofon cartridge, I’ve had the Sumiko Blue Point and after getting the Ortofon Bronze I sold the Sumiko, and I’m using an Empire 298 turntable. All fine now.
