I have a Crown XTi2000 amp laying around waiting to be used. There's also an upcoming event I go to annually where I bring a sound system to play for a huge group in a huge convention center space.

Until now, I've just brought a boring old Samson PA speaker. Now with the latest updates to my gym audio setup, that Samson will be replaced with two slightly smaller EVs plus a huge active sub.

What are some good PASSIVE subwoofers that can handle 800-1600W that could supplement/replace my active one?

Does anybody actually still use those? The only places I've seen folded horns is in a decades old skating rink and at some events at my college (but they're in huge rows like intended)

Consider what you can move/lift and what you can afford. DIY or used, both will fit the bill.

DIY for the most part IMO. Few others out there.

Theres some JBL VTX S28 for sale on ebay for $5000 (for a pair). Honestly not a bad deal if you have the $.
