Greetings. I'm seeking recommendations for a suitable means to protect my hearing during acoustic drumming at home.
Goals:
I want to hear as much of the drum kit as possible - tone, attack, sustain, resonance, texture, etc - all while protecting my ears to a reasonable degree. Simple passive ear muffs like what you might use while mowing the lawn can work okay, but that doesn't help much with the next goal.
I need to play music tracks through them that I will drum along with, so accuracy/transparency are important. A slight bass boost would be welcome, but not something that's bass shy.
My source will be a cell phone (Android), so I would simply use an appropriate USB-C adapter with inline DAC.
I would prefer to keep to a budget of $200 or less (I could possibly push a bit further for a clear and worthwhile performance gain), but if a $40 pair of IEMs would check the boxes, all the better.
Thanks in advance.
