Best bookshelf speakers for 3D/Holographic imaging

Did you end up paying duties when they arrived? If so, how much?

Nope basically just the GST and a ~$20 clearance fee from fedex. You might pay PST aswell depending on which province you are from. Just make sure you ask them to shrink wrap the box because it will be treated like a football on game night.

im looking for a pair of bookshelves that in your opinion offer up great 3 dimensional or holographic imaging, so basically where sounds are placed in front of the speakers, behind the speakers and the sides.

Just invert the polarity on one of them. You won't believe your ears.

It was a joke. Still, you won't believe your ears.

Sounds like someone insn't happy with their stereo performance haha. Some of the crazy things i've heard when it comes to audio you cant blame me for being so gullible, lol. Things like spending thousands on cables for example and solid gold bananas connectors, its no less crazy than your suggestion.

Good thing you didn't buy LS50.

In my house, I have LS50, Paradigm Studio 10, Paradigm Signature S2, and Paradigm Persona B. LS50 is the worse in term of projecting a large, clean, holographic sound field.

Are you still looking?

Nope i bought the Focal Aria 906 for the listening room, and have not regretted every penny spent on them. I've been using them ever night to unwind before bed downstairs. I have alot of speakers aswell that i just realized; paradigm Monitor Se 6000 for with matching surrounds and center for the theatre, KEF Q100's in the living room for background music, some outdoor speakers and sealed speakers for the bedroom. I just built a battery powered bluetooth boombox aswell using Paul Carmodies overnight sensations, im blown away by their sound for such as small size. I imagine they would image pretty well if they were built into bookshelf's instead of a boombox.

How do you like your Focal?

I have Focal in my car (same kind of inverted dome tweeter) and I like it a lot. I can go loud in my car and it remains very clean and not harsh.

I absolutely love them and would purchase them again if they were cheaper for the bedroom or living room. There is the Chora aswell but they are not cheaper even though they should be. Considering as the living room speakers are mounted high up on the ceiling almost against the rear wall due to the wife factor, the bedroom is mounted right on the wall also high for the same reason spending more than $300 for me is a waste of money. The aria's really do need breathing room and roughly 6ft of spacing apart, if you dont have that i would look at something else. They are not bright but perfect for my ears. The soundstage is addicting and the star of the show in my opinion because the signature is neutral, it whisk's you away into the music as it places instruments around the stage, before you know it an hour has passed leaving you feeling relaxed with a blank mind. It was so mind blowing for me when you reach an almost meditative state being drawn into the music, in certain songs i experienced sounds from behind, almost like surround sound but not quite. In fact at one point i thought something fell upstairs or someone was dragging a fridge across the floor which scared the crap out of me, i went to check and it turns out it was the song. They definitely go loud but i usually only listen to abuot 80DB max.

Excellent!

My first experience with big soundstage, where the speakers totally disappeared, was with Paradigm Studio 10 in a dealer's demo room.

I know how you feel! Congrats!
