Ask yourself, why would you not choose the purifi?

What proof is there that they are unreliable?

The Benchmark also has a SMPS - just as "Unreliable", no?

Perhaps resale? Reputation? Built in Syracuse? Based on objective performance either is going to be very good. Stones vs. Beatles. Idk. The answer is you are correct regardless of which you choose.

Because class d measures poorly without a class d AES filter....
And currently lauded Class D designs all do that to perfection, so no concern there. You can easily make the point Cass D operates on "better filtered" power than any Class A or B amp will ever have. :) To your point about measuring, chck out how Ncore or Purifi measure and you have the answer.

I am a teeny-little-bit of Benchmark AHB2 skeptic - no doubt it's a fantastic amp, and I could not hear a real difference between it and the Ncore based NAD M22... but I think (and read) that some of the AHB2's design is there specifically to measure well in typical corner cases rather than across the entire spectrum of possibilities.

Purifi is an OEM solution with small and not long established ‘shops’ assembling boards that they buy in and don’t have much say on their quality. Whereas Benchmark is a proper manufacturer that designs and manufactures all aspects of the amplifier. I chose the latter.

Either will give you effectively perfect performance at any sensible listening level.

Check with Buckeye Amps and see what their options are with the new Purifi and Hypex modules. That's the way I went.

Is there any independent test of this amplifier?

Benchmark is also class AB but with SMPS instead of linear power supply AFAIK
That is a test result....or is Soncoz and L7 Audiolab same company?

Benchmark has a nice rackmount option. It's also pretty light and shallow (narrow depth), if that matters for you.

I went with BM for a couple reasons:
Better warranty (5 years), and extensive speaker protection, I have way more invested in my speakers than amps (I still have nightmares about amp’s causing smoke to emanate from my speakers and blown tweeters.) Not to mention built down the street from where I grew up. Can’t beat Rory’s customer service either.
