Hi,

I have a behringer u-phoria umc1820 connected to 2 amplifiers. I don't want to make music with it, I want to use it for a multi room system for a hotel - restaurant - banquet halls. So I'am looking for software to link inputs with outputs. The umc1820 outputs are connected to different zones (mono). I want for example to connect a mic input to the banquet hall zone output and a sonos port to the restaurant output.

Is there any easy software for this?

Thx

I own this item and use it for active crossovers. It's one of the few that has stable channel mappings and that has given me almost no surprises. It has very barebones software/drivers but they are rock solid. In comparison my Motu (which I returned) that cost much more was insanely buggy. As to how the Behringer measures I'm unsure, the other model that was part of the u-phoria series did not measure incredibly well is my recall.

I have to admit that with the continued supply chain problems with Motu interfaces, I've come back to the idea of picking up one of these as a stopgap for various multi-channel experiments (active xovers and spatialization/reverb).

Is the ADAT output switchable to spdif? If so, that would give 4 digital channels that could drive external DACs in the event that the analog performance wasn't quite up to snuff.

Yes, there is a switch on the front panel that can switch between SPDIF and ADAT.

I have not tried one of these yet but it seems to be one of the most inexpensive 8+ analog output USB interfaces around. I imagine it is a bit noisy (probably similar to a Focusrite 18i20) but it is difficult to tell because their specs are so sparse. They quote a dynamic range of 106 dB(A) under "system data", I would guess that means combined ADC / DAC so just DAC would be a bit better but who knows.

I'd love to see an evaluation. I hear no issues with it but then my biological hardware is 48 years old so it's wholly possible that others will.

I was able to eliminate my minidsp which I was using for driving a pair of LX521.4's by using jriver to recreate the crossovers in the parametric eq plugin. I'm guessing that with the full version of EKIO you could do the same much easier.

The real overhead of using such a thing is making sure that each driver defined within your software actually outputs to the proper output channel on your audio interface. This may sound easy/trivial but it's not. With the behringer it was less brutal. With the motu I was just completely unable.

The 204HD was reviewed, and was mediocre. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...ringer-umc204-hd-audio-interface-review.9856/ There is also a link in the review index to a discussion thread with some measurements of the 404HD done by SIY that are a bit better (~100dB). They both seem to suggest low output levels, and (if I'm reading it right) that noise is a bigger problem than distortion. (at least for the 404)

Upon more use and listening I would have to say the following:
1. The line outputs seem like they put out less voltage/have less gain than they should.
2. The noise floor is terrible.

Hi Can you let me know the system and parts needed to make a active crossover. I want a 4 way speaker and dont want to buy a miniDSP flex cause I was thinking if I have a mac/ PC to play my audio video so thinking if I can use a low cost 8 channel Behringer UMC1820 to my computer and ideal software to make active crossover thats not tought to configure. I know I will miss dirac if I dont have miniDSP but thats ok.

thanks
