Behringer Truth B2031A - how truthful is it? (review / modding)

@sinski You can get quite involved with these speakers if you want to. (As the OP did.)
But, a simple adjustment with the tweaker should be adequate enough.

Since you're unscrewing the amplifier setup from the back, I suggest to add a little heatsink on the regulator chips. (Those are dissipating quite a bit and run fairly warm.)

One of my pairs of 2031a's are in use on my secondary TV system and have been used daily for many years. No issues.

Dave.

If the tweeter level can't go down, the woofer level has to go up (so probably VR3).
Of course the tweeter level can go down.
If you don't understand the circuit that's cool. Just let me know and I'll explain it to you.

Could there a difference in sound between 2031a and 2031(passive version)? Anyone has any idea?

The passive 2031P has a relatively basic crossover (6 dB tweeter, 12 dB woofer), so more irregularities relating to that are expected. (There is a redesigned crossover for these.) On the flipside, I doubt that the passive XO would show as much sample variation... quality of adjustment seems to be all over the map with the 2031As.

Here are the frequency responses at the listening position in my test room compared to the average of good LS/monitors such as Neumann, LSRxxx, Linton etc. (in red):

the older version B2031 was the best

I dunno about that.
I have two sets (four speakers) of B2031a's, and I've tested a few other sets as well. The relative response of all is very close.....assuming the switches are all in the same position.

If there's interest, I could supply a B2031a to Amir for testing. (I know he had a defective sample previously. But I didn't hear anything further on resolution.)
