Beer thread, what you drinkin..

Beer doesn’t age well. Regardless of preference, recent is better.
My immediate reaction is 'bollocks' - you've written off a load of beer styles where ageing under specific conditions is part of the process, like lagering or barrel ageing. I suppose you could argue that the clock doesn't start ticking until the end of that process, but that still misses the styles were ageing well was a goal of the recipe.

Recent starts when the brewery releases it.

So you're still writing off things like Thomas Hardy's Ale which ages well for years. Barley wines and traditional Imperial Russian Stouts tend to age well too, as do some of the Belgian styles and probably more I've not tried.

I’ve never heard of them, so I wrote them off. I prefer dark German lager. The rest can pi** off.

Ah - the old "I've never heard of it, let alone tried it, so it must be crap" argument. Bollocks to that. I've had some good dunkels and schwarzbiers but prefer something less gassy.

we are miscommunicating. You mistake me for someone who cares what other people like or dislike.

I am interested in what people like, but I’m am not interested in arguing with people about preferences.
I am only responding to posts suggesting I am narrow minded or something.

Food preferences are not really arguable. I made a rather obscure error by asserting all beer is best when fresh. My response to the response could be construed as offensive, and I apologize. I could have stopped, or I could have avoided being snotty. I apologize.

this is a pretty good IPA. I recently learned that cans have a plastic liner, and I'm trying to avoid beverages in plastic because of the estrogenic properties. The local shop has slim pickings when it comes to bottles but this one fits the bill. Luckily my favorite, Dragons Milk, only comes in bottles.

Hate to break your heart, but Hops has such properties.

Maximus is delicious.

I miss when they sold it in the old Bombers. 22oz of that would definitely set a few problems right.

More and you are just creating more problems, most likely. ;) Been there. Done that. *blushes

Ooooo... That looks to be a tasty brew from that webpage you linked. I tasted IPA the other day and it was tasted like grapefruit and made me a believer. I was giving away all the peach, apricot and apple fruity concoctions beer that I bought from a British Columbia fruit growers area because it was too fruity but the grapefruit tasting stuff was delicious. This stuff you linked has my curiosity tweaked.

Not usually a big fan of the fruity beers but these days there are some good fruit/citrus notes in various IPAs. This Pfriem is among my favorites and we have a lot of good IPAs here in the pacific northwest....

I still have fond memories of one of the old Zappa commemorative beers Lagunitas used to make... literally tasted and smelled like Grapefruit. This was 2007-2008... they stopped producing the Zappa beers shortly after. One of the family members allegedly got greedy. Lagunitas said, "Then we are done. Bye." Thus passed into history some really nice and inspired beers released on the anniversary of several of his Albums and utilizing the album art as the label.

Don't think I ever ran into one of those....very nice. Gail went off the deep end somewhat but heck not my family. I've had some good "grapefruit" versions, some work well, some not so good. I do remember stopping by their garage back in the day, a bike riding friend of mine introduced me.
