A few years ago only beer nerds knew what a gose was, and they had to be imported from Belgium.

Now we brew them in California and they seem to be trending. Tonight's beer:

I'm cooking posole tonight and needed to add beer to the recipe. Half went into the pressure cooker, but I'm drinking the other half.

32 oz / 1 quart of "The Champagne of Beers":

Miller Genuine draft fuelled my traveling around the states when I was 21, it was a very good year,, a very good year for girls on the greyhound with questionable morals due to daddy issues ... Oh when they chose to sit too near, it was a very good year.

I figured it would be up your alley.

I much prefer High Life to the more upscale Miller Genuine Draft that fueled @Thomas savage 's hot hands at the back of the bus.
There were budget restraints but I'd take MGD over Budweiser any day of the week, though these days would be aghast by the thought of either :D

Still I'd rather be 21 drinking MGD having a great time than 37 drinking some fancy ale.

Not me. At 21 my pendulum swung betwixt difficult academic studies and difficult-to-recover-from partying and trouble-marking. A week in a Mexican jail and a few too many scary visits to the urologist, has made me happier in my middle-aged fancier, but more moderate, vices.

I think I spit out the last mouthful of US Budweiser I was tempted to retry for some reason several years ago.

Is the Czech Bud as bad?

Surely you're joking...

Budweiser Budvar is one of the best beers of its style on the planet.

I haven't had one (that I remember), so, to me, it was a legitimate question.

Weird beer trivia: you can't have had it in the US under that name, actually.

In the US it's sold only as Czechvar -- the compromise of a long running trademark lawsuit between the two companies.

Not PBR. It seriously can be pretty darn good considering the modest price. The secret is it must be just about to freeze. If it is between about 32.1 degrees and 34 degrees it tastes one way. Let it warm up more than that and it is awful stuff. I don't know what happens, but that temp change makes all the difference. Bottles should be pulled from those icy barrels you see in convenience stores or your freezer. Which is of course another reason to guzzle it. You have to drink it before it warms up in your hand.

Just slug the stuff down, catch your buzz, and be done.
Man made booze, God made weed, who do you trust. :p
