Hello. Can you please tell me which headphones are better for writing arrangements, production, beats, and easy mixing: the dt1990/1770, the dt1990/1770mk2, or the dt900 pro x? Some people recommend the 1770 because it doesn't have a sharp top and has plenty of bass, but is this true? And which ones are better: open or closed? Please share your thoughts and opinions.

Psssttt. Moderators hate it when you make more threads on the same terrible treble Beyer.

When you EQ them it does not matter which one's you choose.

Choose open when you do not need isolation from outside noises.
Choose closed when you need some isolation from outside noises.

Now... if you do not plan to EQ... and don't need isolation:

DT 990 PRO X (with external filter) if you do not have a headphone amplifier or the DT 900 PRO X, the DT 1990 PRO (original, but with obligatory external filter) is an expensive option and not 'better' than the DT 990 PRO X.
Note that the DT 990 PRO X sounds closer to a DT 880 than the DT 990.

When you do have a headphone amplifier (and want to listen loud now and then) DT 1990 PRO (with filter and analytic pads).

You should consider the Sennheiser HD 550 or HD 560S (=HD 400 PRO) or HD 490 PRO with 'mixer' pads.

When you need isolation from outside noises or don't want to bother people around you and don't want to EQ.

Sennheiser HD 620S > Austrian Audio Hi-X60 > OLLO S4R > DT 700 PRO X

Yep, except DT 990 PRO X which needs some taming in the treble, DT 900 PRO X is on the edge of needing some treble reduction.

Acc. to Beyerdynamic some treble boost in the mixing stage helps with creating good mixes.
Reason: You can hear more details (which is kind of true) and when mixing you are likely to dial down the treble sharpness a little ending up with mixes that are less sharo sounding.
The latter is questionable as the final mix will have too little 'sparkle' and 'detail'.

Too much of anything is rarely a good thing.

If we're talking about the facts, the dt900 and dt1770mk2 are the headphones I like the most. What do you think if I had to choose between them? Or the first revision of the 1770? You mentioned that the dt 990 pro X is similar to the 880, but I'm not sure which 880 you're referring to: the edition or the pro. Additionally, which one has more high-frequency response when compared to the 880 and the 990 pro X?

DT1770 mkII is 'better' than mkI

The DT880 difference between pro and edition (for each year) is coiled cable + higher clamping force compared to edition.

Note: indeed there is no such thing as a DT770, DT880, DT990. There are many versions of them with even wildly changing sound signatures.

I can't decide for you.
I can only tell you my preference. I kept the DT 1770 PRO mk-II but modified and filtered it but prefer the DT 770 PRO X (with filter) over the more expensive DT 1770 PRO mkII.

Only buy closed when you NEED closed or want boosted bass.

Hello, I've decided on three pairs of dt1770mk2, dt900 pro x dt990 pro x pro. Since you mentioned that the 1990 doesn't differ much from the first revision, I've decided to disregard them. Please arrange them in order from the best to the worst pair of headphones. I'm looking to purchase two pairs. The main criteria are using them without an equalizer and ensuring that they don't cause brain damage like the 990/770. Thank you in advance.

Another off-topic question: do you know anything about studio monitors? I'm just trying to decide between the KRC Rokit 5G5 and the KRC Rokit 7G5.

a matter of preference ... DT 900 PRO X is a bit 'fuller' sounding.

Never heard either of them. Seems to be O.K. active monitors.

hell no on the KRK monitors are
and
I will recommend a pair of Sennheiser HD505 over any of the Beyers you have listed

I used to own the KRK Rokit 7 G4 models, I thought they were very decent for the price.

черт возьми, нет, на мониторах KRK есть
и
Я бы порекомендовал пару Sennheiser HD505 вместо любых наушников Beyers, которые вы перечислили.
I need Bayerdynamics specifically.

I'm being asked to buy a 990 pro x bar speaker because they say their signature is not as neutral, and their high frequencies are not as sharp as the original 990 bar speakers.

When you can ONLY buy Beyerdynamic....

Buy a DT 900 PRO X and DT 990 PRO X.
Note... the DT 990 PRO X really should have been named DT 880 PRO X as it does not have the bass/low-mid boost of the older DT990 series.

(hint ... wait with ordering the DT1770 pro for a week or 2)

Have a listen side by side.
Pick the one you like, return the other one or sell the one you don't want.

Or... buy just one and use EQ.

Or ... when you can buy Sennheiser .. buy HD550 or HD560S and stop worrying.

No one here can predict which one you would prefer so it is pointless to keep asking here and in any of the other threads.

Когда вы можете купить ТОЛЬКО Beyerdynamic....

Купите DT 900 PRO X и DT 990 PRO X.

Is it possible to listen to 1990 without an equalizer?Мк2 I still want to listen to 1990 since everyone recommends them, just an open stage, unlike 1.770

Of course you can listen to the DT 1990 PRO mkII and DT 1770 PRO mkII without EQ/filter but it will have some sharpness and 'hyper detail' if that's your thing.
The main difference between them is mostly in the bass and lower mids.

Only buy DT 1770 PRO mkII when you need a closed headphone (isolation) or want more bass (without having to resort to EQ) otherwise there is no need to own both.
Soundstage = same, treble = same, clarity = same, bass differs.
I'm sure there are people going to enjoy the stock sound and others may not like it (sharpness).

I modified my DT 1770 PRO mkII (requires drilling holes, adding some toilet paper and a filter) but with EQ you can do almost the same.
Lowered the clamping force and use a different (lower in microphonics) cable making it a far more enjoyable experience for me.
Result below... very similar to the (filtered) DT 1990 PRO mkII.

You can 'change' the stereo imaging/soundstage a little by using the coiled cable instead of the straight cable.
