Battle of RCA Cables: Mogami, Amazon, Monoprice

Prices on the Amphenol have risen. $9 on Amazon. Inflation at work.

Thoughts on Canare F09 and F10?

Also, thoughts on xlr cable -> xlr/rca adapter -> rca cable vs. XLR to RCA cable vs. XLR -> Art cleanbox pro -> rca cable.
Audible difference?

Please no comments on why I'm going from XLR to RCA. No real choice. Not liking it either.

With the %25 tariffs on steel, I might switch my steel RCA to copper ones, as copper do not currently have the extra tariffs.

Amazon builds extra shipping cost into everything now. Mouser is like $4 and they have a $4.99 shipping option in USA.

Can you draw a picture of that?? :p

You could use an adapter, but that strains the RCA. If a short distance go female xlr to rca cable. If a long distance, short female xlr to rca and complete what is left with a regular xlr cable.

Converting in that direction is more likely to pick up noise than going on the other direction. The Clean box might be better, but I'm not familiar with what it is doing.

Neutrik:

They do all of the she/her as and he/him versions you would want/need.

Some of the main reasons to do a DIY are odd cable lengths, but just using the adapter is pretty easy and straight forward way to start.

Thank you very much.

Performance Audio has them for ~$3.85/each.

The Canare’s are nice too. They fit the Mogami 2497.

Any 75 ohm cable is suitable for both analog and digital.
Yes, but a digital cable is optimized for a 75 Ohm Radio Frequency Characteristic Impedance and a Silver plated central conductor is a good thing on very high speed digital cables.
Silver plating is an unneeded expense on an analog cable.

As well as on a cable for digital audio.... Digital audio isn't GHz territory with high power levels ;)

Regular 75 ohm coax is perfectly fine to use on any digital and analog connection was my point.

Just like many cable manufacturers realy want a piece of the audiophile and audiophool market and like printing audiophool words on their fancy looking cables. :D

The good old-time RCA plugs typically had four leaf (so to speak) outer connectors that could be gently squeezed a wee bit with a pair of light-duty pliers when needed, to ensure that they gently caressed the RCA jacks of their time, ensuring a snug but not chafing fit! :)

You don't want them to be like the chick in Titanic:

I found a great deal on NOS 3’ Mogami 2964 with molded RCAs, five for five bucks. They are branded Marshall Video Runner. It took a bit of digging to figure out that they are 2964. Marshall Electronics was/is a distributor for Mogami. Antique Electronic Supply used to carry their 14awg zip as Marshall Sound Runner.
