Just have a listen to this intro, I've always loved it and I've always played it LOUD because damn it digs! It wasn't until recently when I installed a proper spectrum analyzer in my Foobar2000 that I realised that it digs REALLY deep, the sweeps goes down below 20Hz :eek: And also the kick throughout the track thumps nicely at 36Hz, yummy!
Would really love to one day hear this on a rig that can play it to its full potential ^^

I also extracted the soundtrack (by River MC32 into 44.1 Hz 24 bit .aif format), and it was analyzed by ADOBE Audition 3.0.1 and by MusicScope 2.1.0.

Unfortunately, the soundtrack of the YouTube video clip is gain saturated;

I analyzed the 3D (Fq-gain-time) color spectrum in 10 Hz - 22.05 kHz vertical log scale, as well as 10 Hz - 400 Hz vertical log scale;
WS755.JPG

Then, in 10 Hz - 100 Hz vertical linear scale with modified color spectrum controls;

And, the whole 9:01 min track was selected and scanned for FFT Fq spectrum analysis;

Next, I analyzed the track with MusicScope 2.1.0, again showing the track is gain saturated indicated by redline in the circular diagram;

Nice, I like that, made my head rock! Sounded very good on the same stock Sennheiser HD560s New Version headphones. I found that to be a really good soundstage track too, felt like there was a lot of depth to it. Nice.
Ah I see, a fellow basshead. Hardly a surprise in this thread. :p :D

It's indeed an exceptionally well made track, including soundstage. Better listen on the big stereo though instead of headphones, to do it justice. Bass needs physicality!

Here's another gem:

Enjoy, my brothers in bass!

Not the lowest of bass, but there is some good amount of content in the 30 Hz range in the middle of the track...

Some serious shit:

Hi Ropeburn, so what's this type of music called? As I said I did like that track, but I didn't like the other track you linked a little later all that much. What should I search for to get some more music similar to this track you've linked? I did ask Alexa to play that track & she played it, and said she was gonna play similar stuff, but it wasn't all that similar, so I think I need to get a bit more specific about what kind of music that is?

EDIT: actually that other track you linked is ok now I'm listening to it again, but I probably like the one in your post I'm quoting more.

Biome is... Biome. Haha. The style is dubstep, and this is one of the more unique artists.

Of course dubstep is a vast and diverse style, with dozens of sub-styles that are easily niche enough that Alexa or similar algorithms can't help you much. Very much underground in the literal sense.

This particular sub-style is often called "dark dubstep". I'm afraid you'll have to search yourself and by hand. A good starting point are DJ mixes, like this one:

Check the tracklist in the description. Search for the artists you like, and then check out their record labels and check their stuff out too, and so forth. Use discogs.com for finding everything related to an artist or label. Many artists have different pseudonyms for different styles and moods, you can find it all. It escalates quickly.

Be warned, searching like this turns into a formidable rabbithole very quickly. You'll find a LOT of great music this way, regardless of style.

Excellent, this seems like a very good approach! I'm liking the first track so far in this latest one you've linked, listening to it now. I'll certainly check out the rest & try your approach - makes sense!

Something completely different musical style...

Paula Cole - Tiger

Nice Bass deep down at A0 / C1 (taken from original CD)

^ Half-life.. so good.

And now for something completely different (or maybe not really, on some level there's similarities in drums at least): if you know dnb and see Technical Itch you know what to expect, but this one hits particularly hard. In essence it's 'just' a reese in a simple downwards chord progression, but it's one of the best ones ever done in the genre imo. Buildup in the song is pretty nice too, but basically the goodness starts at 2'16 and then exactly one minute later is the mark where you'll know if your system handles low bass well. If it doesn't, it'll sound as if overall volume goes down and you hear something's missing. If it does, well, you'll feel it.

Adding a ridiculous contribution to this… I say ridiculous because clearly the producer, engineer, mastering engineer were all out to lunch on this mix!
