BACCH4MAC Short Review / first impressions

I hate returning stuff, though, including software!
You'll hate paying double in the future if you decide that you want it, not to mention between now and then you could've been using/enjoying it. You only live once!

So Stratos requires measuring HRTFs for all virtual speaker angles AND it requires a player outputting multichannel PCM to a virtual audio device, correct?

Wouldn't that mean that it could be replicated using those same measured HRTFs (assuming you have the binaural mics) and

A) Bacch4mac Pro's 3D mixer for downmixing to a stereo binaural file, or
B) Realtime binaural downmix by routing audio through CamillaDSP, 12 ch in, 2 out and then through Bacch?

Have any users gotten up and running on BACCH Stratos?
I have it setup and running for one week now. My first real use was watching on Apple tv the movie F1. This delivered a very nice experience comparable with an blue ray disks with a regular Dolby 5.1 system. Main advantage of the stratos is for me the better quality sound from hifi set with subwoofer I use. My Dolby surround set has lesser quality gear. Surround music I don't know yet, but that's not really my aim. In future I will connect the blue ray player with the Nuprime 16-AIP with Dante as recommend by Edgar.

I'm still undecided on Stratos. I guess I have one more day....

95% of the music in my library is 2-channel, so I just don't envision using the Stratos feature very often...

I know you all were waiting with bated breath to see if I would buy the Stratos module for $1500 before the midnight deadline, and I've decided that I'll happily pay $3000 when I add a screen to my music room and can watch a lot of content with multichannel audio there. Until then, I'm content with the awesome presentation of two-channel content provided by BACCH-ORC.

Anyone had success measuring filters under V15?

I just made some 2-step BACCH ORC filters and then proceeded to run measurement sweeps. After I ran the measurement sweeps, the filters I had just created disappeared, replaced by the default filters that come in the software package. Perhaps a new bug.

Thanks all

Did you have head tracking enabled when you did the measurements? I asked about that and was told the measurement sweeps aren't intended for use with head tracking, so it's "not a bug". I don't know if I agree, but there you have it

Well there it is....

Thank you!

I'm still at 14.2.. How does one update to the newest version?

How do you do a measurement sweep after creating filters with head tracking?

I haven’t been receiving those emails, despite upgrading to ORC less than a year ago. I will reach out to them to resolve this.

@edit, I guess using "one" was a bit formal/strange :)
