Was happy that my doctor prescribed Paxlovid for COVID. Then I get to the pharmacy and they tell me I owe them $820!!! I asked them if insurance refused to pay. They said no. That the retail cost was $3,300 so the $820 was my deductible!!! Son of a ?*$!??....

Wow, that's crazy! I just priced Paxlovid on my plan and its $10 at CVS or Walgreens.

The maximum out-of-pocket (MOOP) cost for Medicare Part D prescription drugs is $2100 for the entire year.
That insurance coverage seems harsh.

The Cooper taste from Paxlovid pills I still remember like it was yesterday. yuck!

That's a lot of money, not sure what it would cost in Holland at the moment though.

In Belgium I find retail prices of around 1150€ of which patients would have to pay 27% (+2.5€) so 313€ (+ a max total medical cost of around 2194€/household/year or lower depending on your income)

That's for this package: Paxlovid Tablet Filmomhuld 150 + 100mg (20+10tabl) 30 st

My wife's prescription for the same was essentially free. She is on another super expensive medication ($6,000 a month!) so maybe she exhausted her deductible. Either way, was happy to not pay another $800.

Unfortunately I lost my last 300+ track reference list when I switched Roon server! I forget if it was saving or restoring which broke. I have started from scratch again. Once it is healthy size, I will create a fresh link in Tidal.

Well, ran a test for COVID last night and it came back positive. Luckily symptoms are not too terrible but not fun either.

Sorry to hear mate, glad you're on the mend. I hope your wife is hanging in there, it's not nice at all and no matter what some say it's much worse than any influenza.

@amirm THIS! You have to step back for some time (and your wife too, of course).

When I got COVID the doctor was very clear and strict that I must not work (even as a guy working on a PC all day) until all symptoms are gone and I test negative, to lower the chance to get Long COVID. "You don't want to get Long COVID, do you?" were here words. I know I can say safely that "we" need you to come back healthy and strong.

It was costco!!! We have a great independent pharmacy that gives great discounts but did not carry this drug. I suspect they would have charged less.

One other place you might try: Mark Cuban started an online drug service aimed at cutting prices drastically.

In Germany we have statutory health insurance. Maximum deductible is some 100 Euro a year, depending on several criteria.

Honestly, reading this made me think how much better it would’ve felt to have something more refreshing and customizable instead of overpriced canned soda. That’s kind of why I like Swig beverages after a long, packed event like that, grabbing something like Save Me Jade would hit way better than a basic Pepsi.

As to script costs, Good RX, Check it out.
My favorite speakers in the affordably insane price was the JBL Summit Pumora at $30k pair I'll be watching the used market. I thought KV left Revel, but the Performa sounded good at reasonable $$. IMO too many rooms had subs turned up too high for me to get an actual idea how the speakers sounded.
