Had a bad seat. I wrote down "horrible bass" but it sounds that way now through my headphones.
 
These are objectively good speakers. What did you think of the top end?
 
I'm gonna defend the Lizzy McAlpine track - not familiar with it before this. I enjoyed it. subjective, but I also didn't have issue with the bass, with the usual caveat of some bass shelf adjust to taste/master. (small room, ascilab F6B + two mid-wall subs. I'm in the good seat ;-)

far out do the bass levels vary so much in different releases and genres!? circular confusion. but I thought the vocal was nicely recorded and stayed well defined amongst other elements. didn't perceive any egregious pitch correction.

It's got a weird thump. I hear it and I could see how it might sound extra bad with unmanaged bass response in a small room. Apparently, no one uses DSP at these things, or few do.
