But said technician also has to move the sub - in traffic etc., if he won't be able to do the work at the customer's home.
Lucky if removing the electronics will do it. And the first installation requires moving it anyway.
Maybe just my inborn pessimism, but I see dead subs...

That is the giantest giant sub I have ever seen.

There aren't many manufacturers that produce suitable drivers. The largest one I know of is this one, the A&D 804.
I've used a few coaxial speakers and a few woofers made with carbon fiber from them, so I assume the quality of this giant is also very good.

I’ve lurked on this site for a looong time. Today I finally signed up so I could join this discussion. This beast is my baby (along with the rest of the team at Deus), and we were so proud to share it with the hifi community at Axpona! Sure it is big, and ridiculous, but I think you guys will appreciate it more than most. I see the A&D driver above, and that is definitely a big driver. Another brand has chosen it for their flagship products. It is fine for a big, standard driver. That’s not the direction we took. Ours is the outcome of years of R&D, and is 100% custom, and based on a novel new motor topology that allows us to have essentially flat BL like an underhung woofer, but do it with an overhung coil to handle the power. We strive to eliminate as much distortion as possible, and as such have nearly flat BL, KMS, Lex, and Lei for +/- 30mm. 82% BL is 33mm. So yeah, it’s big, but check out the specs on our site. It performs. I didn’t see this post till Friday after work, but when I hit the office next week I’ll share our measurements. They are pretty nice!

Ah! Because we actually designed the whole system, and didn’t just plop a huge car audio sub into a box, we were able to consider this. The cone is fully removable, and replacing the coil pack takes 2 people 15 minutes with only access to the front and basic hand tools. We have a time lapse video somewhere. Let me dig it up to share.

What a surprise to see you chime in! I thought this was just a novelty item, not a real hi-fi product. Look forward to measurements.

What does it sell for and where is it produced?

If you have to ask… $170k for the sub and amp through our US distributor Playback Distribution. And it is built in our facility in Salt Lake City, Utah.

That is so beautiful! It must have been a labor of love. It looks like it would be completely overwhelming!
Do they make a measurement microphone the can take its full output?
