Anyone know what those ladders are in front of the speakers? Saw them in a few rooms.

They didn't have the heart to add up the total cost:

They were playing this LP:

They said it was a very popular album in Japan. Sounded bright and distorted.

@amirm I assume the ladders are supposed to be acoustic treatment.

I think I've seen them before, but don't remember the name or manufacturer. Not sure what to google to find such a contraption. My intuition suggests they probably do close to nothing with the sound. Especially the one between the speakers. :)

Nihon Onkyo Engineering (NOE) AGS (Acoustic Grove System) is a high-end, free-standing acoustic tuning unit designed to improve room acoustics by replicating the natural sound-diffusion properties of a forest.

4695/pair according to Stereophile, and they’re already sold on them: ”I've heard this record 1000s of times, from my old Toyota traveling NC highways to my high-falutin' NYC rig. But never like this. Cliff and TJ, you guys made my weekend. I guess those weird looking Nihon Onkyo Engineering wood dowels really work”.

Wow!
Another case of lack of interest in, or aptitude for, things scientific as a child leading to supreme ignorance based gullibility in adulthood.

Ah. It is made out of wood and hence, forest. If I want to feel the properties of the ocean, I guess they would make it out of sand or something....

Not to fast, they have lots of measurements https://pinkfishmedia.net/forum/thr...e-system-dealer-installs-news-reviews.306748/ ;)

You need a forest of them to get the full experience:

Don't tell me you didn't know you cannot achieve that with aluminium cable risers, you need ceramics with lower static storage.

Surely someone has diy'ed these diffusers (I imagine that's their intended function)?
Or is the origin of the wood the determining, operative factor here?

Without the description I would have initially looked for an offer on Etsy.

AUDIOPHILE sea water, likely cryo treated. Has to be topped up as it evaporates, but must be the special type, bought on a subscription. What a great idea for a business scheme scam!
