I use the following in a combined stereo/7.1 system
Squeezebox
Tag McLaren dac20
Audiolab 8000q stereo analogue pre
ATI 2000 power amplifiers
Lexicon mc-8 av pre
Lexicon mc-8 left and right pre out go into a regular input on the 8000q.
Dac20 output into another input.
8000q pre out into ATI amp.
The 8000q has a gain setting.
Gain set to 9, and not touched.
Set volume on mc-8 source to 12 o clock, and set mc-8 levels to 75db. Mark level on 8000q with white sticker
Calibrated other speakrs to 75db, mc-8 goes into other ATI channels and sub.
So when I listen to music from dac, reduce volume and change input
Listen to av, change input and increase volume to marked position
I'm wondering if there is a better way to set levels so the mc-8 output it not over driving the pre, or too low causing noise to boosting level.
Gain on power amps is 29db.
8000q doesn't have a HT bypass input
