Isn't it just isolating the HDD motor noise by not having a direct line of data from the drives to the DAC ?
One should get the same results via LAN if my understanding of noise isolation is correct ?

All FUD no science.

Classic audiophile hand wringing over things they imagine make a difference. If they really believe any of this is audible, over something else delivering the same bits, they would have controlled listening tests to back it up, but years into developing this sector of the market I've never seen one done.
