I conclude that if one is anal about phase distortion, ease the pain by listening only to Jazz recordings using loudspeakers.

The 3.5kHz all-pass on an impulse was the most audible test with headphones, but not audible at all with loudspeakers... that had their own crossover frequency right at that same 3.5kHz frequency...
