I also got them and I can confirm the treble peak (I'm generally sensitive to treble). I'm not sure if I like it as I prefer a warm signature and most measurements didn't show that peak. But the sub bass and soundstage surprised me, so I think they're a keeper.
could probably consider them after my champions of fatigue free ATH r50x break down (if i am not careful, as they seem fragile in hands, heh)

Here's my EQ profile that I think makes this headphone really shine:

30Hz, Q0.7, +5dB
200Hz, Q1.0, -2dB
1500Hz, Q2.5, +1.5dB
2700Hz, Q2.5, -1.5dB
3800Hz, Q5.0, +3dB
9200Hz, Q5.0, -5dB

Thank you this helps a lot. Do you know if the 9kHz peak was confirmed elsewhere? I saw that my set came with a new packaging different from what I saw in other reviews so if they changed things they might need new measurements.

I just ordered mine, it's yet to arrive, I plan to play it on a fiio k7, does anyone know if I need to use balanced output or is single ended ok? Is there any EQ that works well with it? I read that the plastic part of headband tends to come off the shell over time. Has anyone had a problem with this?

- It comes with a regular single ended cable.
- For an EQ, I like its default sound so I just boost the sub-bass (~4dB @ <80Hz) but you might want to try @dcibel's EQ or Amir's posted at the beginning of the thread. You can also try Oratory1990's EQ, as the headphone has low distortion it works very well.
- Regarding the headband, I've only had it for 2 months so I don't know about build quality issues yet.

Ty!!!

There are a few Amazon reviews mentioning this, you should check them out. I'm a bit concerned as I bought these 2 months ago, I wonder if there's a way to avoid this - some kind of stronger replacement.
!! I saw two posts about this on Reddit, and also this one on Head-Fi: (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/imp...adphones-with-mld-driver.971108/post-18750816)

I'm not sure if it's a sporadic issue or a chronic defect waiting to happen like a time bomb. It's hard to tell if it's a common problem or perhaps something that only affected the initial units.

It's a shame because I don't see many other options in its price range, especially considering its design for comfort and a pleasant sound.

I also wonder if there's a way to replace this part. Maybe someone who has dealt with this has created a 3D-printed model that could work as a replacement. I read a comment on Reddit saying that it's possible to replace the entire headband with parts from Ali

I saw 5 people on Amazon have the same happen to them so it's probably not an issue of if it will happen, but when. I can only suggest to treat them with care. My Beyerdynamic DT770 also had a weak plastic joint that constantly broke and someone made a strong 3D replacement that works great. Not sure what to do when the headband plastic itself breaks though; that looks like an inherent design flaw.

EDIT: Aune says it's a flaw in the early batches. I'm not sure if I am to believe them. But they also seem to be offering free replacements if it happens.

Thanks! I'll keep in mind to be as careful as possible with them, especially not to stress that fragile part

That is some seriously low distortion for a full-size dynamic headphone, at least judging from Amir's other measurements. How do you think they achieved that? In distortion levels, they seem to beat the Focal Clear, Sennheiser HD800S and 6-- series, even some renowned planar headphones like the Hifiman Arya and Sundara.

I got these this week. My opinion of the Aune AR5000 is that they sound extremely clean compared to other dynamics, as if sounds are produced in a vacuum, there's a great deal of "silent background" for an open-back. I can hear subtle sound effects better, where they begin and how they end, and the best part is that all of this extra detail is rather unfatiguing. This cleanliness probably shows best in the group delay analysis that Amir had posted in this review. Other than that, they have excellent technicalities, coherence and speed. Imaging is superb. I am a bit disappointed by the macro-dynamics and bass impact. Additionally, with certain records they can sound a bit thin even with EQ, but it's a pleasant/"hi-fi tweeter" kind of thinness.

For the $200 I paid to get them from AliExpress they're a steal. I believe they are more accomplished than the HD660s or the HD600, and more enjoyable than the Sundaras and LCD-2C. Good comfort too, albeit the space between the earpads is a tad small even for my small ears (the headphones look larger in pictures than in real life.)

Dude, I just tested it with the Oratory EQ and it's the one that truly made these shine. The level of clarity is like surfacing from a dive — everything sounds so natural and detailed, yet not aggressive. I can't quite explain it TT
but this is definitely the best eq profile for me

I must have a different headphone or my ears are broken, I found Oratory EQ to be quite midrange forward and sharp top end since it doesn't address the 9.2kHz peak.

I also have Fiio FT1 and found Oratory EQ to be quite good for that one, so it must be my headphones. ;)

Well... for me, this Oratory EQ is the difference between a garage show and a studio recording. You go from a sound that's loud, resonant, echoey, and right in your face, to something that is controlled, harmonic, and clean. Suddenly, everything sounds distinct and open—energetic, but never overwhelming.

But I may be wrong in my analysis and perception of things, I don't have much experience.

I think we really need more measurements, specifically of recent samples, as I'm not really sure now if the peak is really there and I don't have measurement equipment.
When I first got the headphones I found them bright and slightly fatiguing but after switching a lot between my HD600, AKG K702 and Beyers DT770, the AR5000 are definitely the darkest of the bunch.

What was happening is that the AR5000s are *extremely* sensitive (even more sensitive than many IEMs as shown by Amir) which made it that my amp (Atom 2) gave it a lot of volume, even when moving the knob ever so slightly. So I was in reality listening to the AR5000s significantly louder than my other sets, which made me think they were more fatiguing. After giving it a -5dB preamp I could play more with the volume and actually match it to what I normally listen to. And now I enjoy them a lot even without EQ.

That said it'd be nice to see a newer measurement just to be sure.

Now sure if it's really there? I can suggest some ear training. Start with pink noise EQ, following guidance from recording/mixing professionals:

Pink noise training is easy to identify the "tone" of different frequencies, then move on to using simple parametric EQ while listening to your favourite songs. Make a peak filter and move it around at different frequencies, then do the same with a notch filter.

Now, get a "good" pair of headphones or speakers that you have, set up a peak filter at 9.2kHz, Q of 5, and at least +5dB of gain. Turn the EQ off and on and listen to the difference. Now put on the Aune AR5000 and ask yourself, is it there?
