There should be a noticeable difference in mid-range clarity due to new crossover in mk2.
Also, try to look for LCR (which is basically an mk3).
Best bet would be if you could find 99.25 / 99.26 with beryllium twitter upgrade.
It is a 99.25 LCR that's for sale, and a 99.26 MKII in white... Is the crossover the same when switching to beryllium tweeter? If so, I can do the upgrade myself at a later time... Also if the crossovers have the same schematic, I can upgrade components myself at a later time.

On the official website only the 99.25 is active (as in production) and that's the one for sale, based on its appearance - shouldn't this then be the newest model?

I don't think difference b/w mk2 and LCR is that big like it was b/w mk1 and mk2.
Also I don't recall if you need new crossover for beryllium twitter upgrade or not, I just recall that upgrade cost was too big (due to twitters price). So it's like if you are buying used 99.25 / 99.26 and able to score upgraded ones - you should get one, if not - just stick with ribbon twitters, they are pretty good.

99.25 and 99.26 were identical except cabinet form. As for 99.25 - all three (mk1, mk2, LCR) looked identical AFAIK.

Yes - but the cabinet is a completely different shape than any 99.26 MK II I can find reviewed or tested on youtube.
It is what was called "XTZ 99.26 Center MKII". They have different shape to be able to put them on the side (while rotating ribbon twitter 90 degree).
Current 99.25 model is called LCR for the same exact reason - you can use it both as normal L/R speakers or rotate tweeter, put it on the side and use it as a center speaker.

Seems like too many combinations for this to be a thorough design, same drivers in different shapes with adjustable but same crossovers and a tweeter that can be turned horizontal... Seems illogical to me. If Í had a chance to audition them, it would be different.

Anyone tried or listened to the newer "Audiovector QR 1 SE" speakers? I like how compact they are for a 6" speaker.
