Audiovector M1 Super Spinorama measurements (CTA-2034)

In my case there was also mid-woofer crossover coil missmatch... One had 1,01mH and the other 1,06... Fixed with Jantzen cross-coils ;⁠)
 
This, when I bridge it is loud but not bad. When I try other walues with white ceramic resistors grain comes back to the tweeter.

Weird, wonder why that is. Did you actually hear or measure a difference between the two speakers with the 1.01 and 1.06?

Edit: I'm just curious because when I put the values in Virtuixcad, the difference is pretty much nonexistent

I measured coils. The difference is in scene and detail. Everything is more defined now. Funny thing I unwinded 2 coil turns and matched them. Maybe I use them later in some cheaper speakers.

Now I've got 2 ways. One is to leave it as is and only improve quality of components, eventualy lower a little the resistor in series with the tweeter

Another option is to try 2nd order on midwoofer and let chinese beryllium do the job.
Looking at the cone breakup at 4kHz I think I should make another crossover and try both options.

It's more fun than I expected... Just my wife unhappy that I am all the time screwing and soldering :⁠-⁠)

Sounds expensive but fun, puting a notch filter would be the way to go to get rid of the peak I think.

My woofers are fine at the moment but I think I will bring down the tweeter with a higher ohm resistor, right now all the frequencies they take feels a lot louder and I don't have a multi band EQ I would need to fix it

Haha can relate to that! Btw the fix for me was to remove the resistors in parallel with the coil to the lower woofer. The resistors in parallel pretty much negated the whole effect of the inductor, only lowering the higher frequencies about 5 db still leaving enough energy to make the woofer distort in that 4-5k region

Finaly finished for this year. I am 100% satisfied with the result. Gladly I started from the back side buying tweeters without knowing much about crossovers. Spending money in audio is not hard at all... Achieving imagined results is far more problematic. There is a lot of forums here and there stating that Audiovector M series tweeters are harsh. You can make it less obvious by plugging tweeter tube or achive more, changing capacitor and resistor in series with the speaker. If it's still not enough I would change this damn tweeter.

Today I was bored a little, so I drilled a hole in Melodavid Be28 chamber. With idea that no tweeter should suffer from bigger back chamber. It was easy because back was made of plastic.
Results are hard to clasify... In slow music speakers are less obvious in the room. In other hand there's a lot going on creating mess in more dense songs. I put a little wool inside to damp it, but not completely.

Overall I am very pleased by the sound of the system now. I think by changing speakers I would spend a lot more to achive this kind of improvement sonically. I can finally understand what metal bands are singing about :D:D:D
