and I’ll also look into the Fletcher–Munson curves.
TLDR on this (but I urge you to read about it), at lower listening volumes you need a lot more bass and some more highs to perceive the right "tonal balance". That's a byproduct of how our hearing works.

I’m going to read up on the Fletcher–Munson effect and on the room correction software built into my Marantz Cinema 60 A/V receiver to see if I can solve the issue.
You may also start with some basic "health" checks:
1. Make sure your main stereo speakers are in phase (easier if you have red/black speaker cables)
2. Is the issue present when you only use the main stereo speakers ?
Or is it worse when you add more speakers ? Which ones ?
Again, playing with rear speakers phase may be a first step.
Center speaker should be in phase with main speakers.
But anyway, you room control software should help with that too...

You may also want some specific help on configuring it.
That's why a separate thread seems sounder to me...
Choosing your title carefully, people more knowledgeable of this system will probably be able to help.

Ah, and you'll need a measurement mic as well. But that's way cheaper than a new amp
Thank you very much for your help.
You're welcome.

Revel F226be speakers get very high marks for low volume dynamics. Check out Erin's review. Just throwing it out there

Given the MPA-S250NC is a few years old now, is this still a product worth considering or has the world of class D amps moved on? I'm torn between the 3e A7 stereo and the MPA-S250NC. Maybe I should also consider the AP300-S250NC (though it's out of stock)?
My source is a Wiim Ultra, speakers are IPL Acoustics transmission line.

The state-of-the-art is continually improving (albeit in smaller increments). However, for practical purposes, all the amps in the blue section of the graph, which has enough power for your use-case, will be good enough.

So "the world of class D" is moving on all the time, but unless you (like many) have an affinity for having "the best of the best", it doesn't really matter.

It seems like Audiophonics have silently upgraded their in-house built amplifiers to include the newer NCx252MP modules. They even kept the same product pages - given the number of reviews dating back to 2020 ;)

Only the XLR version of the smaller box has not yet been updated: https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/powe...4185.html?search_query=NC252MP&fast_search=fs

Hope to see a test of an NCx252MP based amplifier soon @amirm

They have about the same noise and a little less THD/SINAD. Not sure if this is an audible difference but as the price is very similar it's a welcome update!

Some component upgrades as well, I've read. Probably those capacitors, which are now all Aishi branded? I believe those are fairly well regarded general use caps.

According to todays contact and info from Audiophonics, even the XLR version of AUDIOPHONICS MPA-S250NC has actually the updated NCx252MP module. It is just that they have not updated the website.

Ah yes they've since confirmed this with me as well. Seems like most if not all OEM's have switched, but most didn't bother to announce this so maybe it's not that big of an upgrade.

Still, I've read that there have been different revisions of the original NC252MP as well, but nothing significant enough to add an "x" ;)

(and the original is probably EOL?)

Anyways, I've just ordered myself a NCx252MP board through a colleague with an account with Hypex. I'm going to put it in the Ghent Audio enclosure; excited to hear what all the fuss is about!

Same here. I asked them also if it was the newest NCX version released beginning 2026. They declined, so it is the previous gen of NCX252MP (not a big problem for me since the slight changes won't audibly affect my experience :) )

Where did you get the info about there being different revisions of the NCx252MP already?

They became available only in December:

NCx502MP has been around for longer though.

Oh I thought that the NCX252MP already existed for longer and just got a Revision end 2025. But maybe I was wrongly informed and the only prior version was the NC252

Doesn't exist. NC502MP does.
Ah I somehow thought the 500w was the first version that got updated. Appears not - maybe it was one of the non-MP modules

Goes to show how spoiled we are. So many nice offerings available, it gets confusing sometimes ;)

Yes + https://www.hypex.nl/products/amplifier-families/ncorex-family/

So I guess the NC502MP is next in line to get the "x" treatment
You must be thinking of the NCX500 (non-mp). That's been out for a good while.
NCx500 has better performance and components than a NCx502MP would have. Significantly more expensive too. DSA254 with paralleled channels and an SMPS1200 offers approximately the same price/performance/quality than an hypothetical NCx502MP.
