Lots of empty space in there. I wonder if the long depth is for a rack mount? Or what?
They standardize on 2 boxes, basically.
This one and a full width one.

This one is also used with a stereo Purifi inside.
More crowded then...

Nice!
Pairing this amplifier with a Topping E50 as dac/pre amp would bring real highend performance. :)

Those Hypex modules seems also to be available as plateamps with the option of dsp crossovers, making it possible to create a two way active speaker with top performance.

That was my initial plan, but went with PA5 instead

I have had one of these since January 2021 hooked up to my Denon AVR-X3600 to drive the front L+R speakers (Elac DBR62), in bypass mode, allowing the Denon to focus on the centre, subwoofer, and rear surrounds. Absolutely great compact unit, no faults, and sounds really nice. As Amir mentioned it does get warm, but not concerning, and I initially had it in an enclosed space (home TV stand) before realising that probably wasn't the best for the life expectancy of the unit.

I have the smaller NC252MP (2x125w/4R) version, and plan to buy an other one to multiamp (with active dsp crossover) for a system i have. It's great, basicly transparent and very reliable for whatever speaker i connect to it. It just lack colour for the systems i where i want that (but i got other amps for that). It's a no brainer if you want a clean amp. Purifi and more modern Ncore variations may measure better, but this is already beyond our hearing limits...

The case is very basic and rough, but i don't care. And the power led is way to bright (but easy to mod). But the build is high quality with good quality connectors and build like it should. The measurements are what i expected, so no surprises. But thanks for finally measuring those.

Very good performance. I am left to wonder where exactly the low impedance protection triggers the shutdown. It is shown to be between 4 and 2 ohm. However, many speakers do have impedance slightly below 4 ohm and it would be useful to know the threshold when protection kicks in.

Thank you Amir for an impeccable review!

How do you mod the powerlight? I just stuck black tape over mine.

Nice review. I was waiting for this one.

Probably my next two amps; two of them replaces one Rotel power amp (sub only) to power up both my mains and sub.

I am using Audiophonics in 252x2 in their 4CH guise, full chassic to drive my height speakers [8ch overall].
Good that I had one channel to spare, as 1 of the modules is broken after 1 year [made strange noises in the speaker].

Other than that - Price/Value ratio is fantastic for not so demanding applications, where not too much power is needed.

I'd be very curious to see their NCX500 implementation measured, by the way

It's with a single SMPS1200 for a stereo amp, so I don't expect the same power than the mono model Amir tested. But still...

Nice. I just got a AUDIOPHONICS MPA-S125NC RCA Power Amplifier Class D Stereo NCore 2x125W 4 Ohm to drive a HF compression driver - sound great and a nice build in a handy format.

That's excellent performance at this price point, for sure.

Still, the infinite spray of mains harmonics suggests the wiring/grounding scheme could be improved and probably the XLR version has less of it. From the photo shown we can see that the form factor would have called for a 90° CCW placement for best cable routing.

But it could be mains contamination is intrinsic as the input section is really damn close to the power supply, not exactly best practice.

I built a couple of these with balanced inputs and see none of the harmonic spray measured in this review unit.

My power measurements are very comparable to Amir's.

p.s. should note that the harmonic spray mentioned is mainly below -110 dB

No surprise here.

I live in the States and bought their Purifi amp a year ago (S400 ET). Despite some hesitation about ordering from across the Pond, the transaction was a breeze, shipping was reasonable ~ $55, and the product works perfectly. Though Audiophonics was back ordered at the time, they shipped promptly once inventory was available.

No issues with US Customs.

I’m a satisfied Audiophonics customer and wouldn’t think twice about buying this amp.

Great to see this review as my Aiyima A07 just died, I was thinking about upgrading to this... or the Topping PA7 Plus. Any suggestions as to which?

I am currently leaning towards the PA7 Plus, as it has an input switch and volume knob, which would save a box my the chain.

That’s the reason balanced was created

You'd be surprised.
