Audiophile jewelry - most beautiful Cd players, turntables and other gear

I think that "Schotts"(sp?) was the name of a designer who came up with the tuner's front end design, and it was superlative.
It has the (Larry) Schotz noise reduction circuitry which delivers an unusually clear, clean sound with strong bass.

When Larry Schotz designed his noise-reduction circuitry for NAD, they called it Dynamic Separation, but Schotz no longer gives manufacturers exclusive use ...

This is how a preamp should look. I don't know about the quality of this thing, but on looks this is 10/10
IME the PhaseLinear/Carver gear from back then was pretty reliable. the one blooper may be the PL 700B amp.
I owned the sister to that preamp in the Phase Linear 1000, an outboard Dynamic Range - Autocorrelator Noise Reduction System from the full pre-amp.
For me it was a must have with the 70 - 80s vinyl of the day. I owned mine for 30 years and it was still working perfectly when I retired.

I had one of those! :) I never felt that it worked all that well at eliminating record surface noise, which I always found awfully annoying. I pretty much gave up on it after getting a CD player in August 1984, the Marantz FD1000SL (pics from the interwebs):
