It truly is - but then there was a world before Blades as well. Some of the speakers you favorably reviewed 20 years ago are still available as new, and probably represent a great value. Time is a relative thing, and we should embrace it as such till
For me the question is whether the APR16 without ART will outperform my Denon 4800h with ART. I’m not inclined to take the time to switch them out to try to find out. If pressed I will bet on the Denon in this contest.
Hyperion has been good keeping me informed. They confirmed that “Dirac has not given us a timeline yet”. That said, this is disappointing given the expectations set by them by at shows and on their website.
I for sure know it will not outperform my AV10 as I have more channels that I need, so not the same class at all. But within its limitations, we do need to wait and see what it does. If they implement the ART without the filter limitations, I can see that this will be viewed as "Storm" class - whatever it actually matters or means.
Seems like the debable with Dirac is a bit of a pickle. Definitively not looking like love at first sight.
Thanks for TOFTT and letting your unit go for a bit! Hope Amir can get to it soon as do I also hope Audiocontrol can get their Dirac approval/authorization ASAP. Anxious to see how this tests.
Really great and admirable move. Many thanks and this is a great way to introduce a new AVP and for sure will provide us with more info that we would care to process.
What a selfless hero!
I hope it doesn't take too long.
EDIT : Here's a thought - can you try to persuade him to test with both regular HDMI inputs, and HDMI eARC as well. It would be instructive to see the difference.
Though I did not understand the technical details most of the 29-page thread, as an AudioControl dealer I also eagerly await Hyperion APR-16 review.
Truly appreciate the time, effort and expertise everyone here invests to share such valuable knowledge.

I attended webinar late April and this was asked. We were told “currently our (AC and Dirac) are working in tandem to finalize the testing suite with Dirac.” He was unwilling to commit to a specific date, but did share , as known here, that despite original trade show that Dirac would be included (like the AudioControl Concert XR Xrs lines) , that it now requires a separate license purchase for Room Correction, Bass Control, and ART
Of lesser importance to this community, but largely for my company 8.2.6 showroom where the Concert XR stays locked on Auro 3D which is the most immersive for overhead Atmos demos,I was dismayed that Auro 3D was not listed on the spec sheet. I was assured that it is in fact coming in future firmware software update which was all I needed to hear.
I believe I saw you ordered yours around Christmas and received recently.there is a 60-day expected wait at the moment and I don’t have a delivery timeline on my APR-16 but have never been as excited for any product in my 29 years in the industry.
Do you have an expected date for the ASR review now that he has yours in his possession?
not audio related, but there was a lot of buzz around the full bandwidth 48 Gbps HDMI, on all 7 inputs and output
Studio-Grade HDMI - Pixel-accurate video with
advanced EDID/HDCP management for ISF-certified signal paths
This product has immense versatility, custom installers dream in my humble opinion.
16 channels of both RCA (unbalanced) AND XLR (balanced) outputs for 32 total physical outputs
Every output is fully matrix-assignable, supporting layouts from 2.0 all the way up to 9.1.6
6 Band PEQ and Low/High Shelt per Channel
Up to +/- 60dB of independent Bass, Treble, Gain, and Trim, per Input.
Per Input storage of Two-Channel and Multi-Channel
Sound Modes.
Multiple subwoofer outputs are easily configured.
Run 4, 6, or even 8 subs if the project calls for it
the software UI/UX interfaces were shown but I’m not sure I’m at liberty to share screenshots, nothing they haven’t shown at trade shows though. The remote software looks fantastic to me, light years beyond other control software I’ve interacted with in the past, including the AC AVR / XR series that is already modern in its own right. The excitement and enthusiasm of the presenters seemed obvious that they believe we are now Storm / Trinnov competitive, and many ways superior.
But like with most things AV, I am trying to temper my expectations, as there are sure to be some things to be later perfected.
