I use bridged AHB2s for my LCR, they prefer to be run on the lowest gain setting, especially when bridged, and with a hotter signal. This should work well with the APR-16. However, the rest of my system, subs, height and surround are consumer level.
At the risk of going too far down the rabbit hole and going off-thread, I think this probably is pertinent to the APR-16 because one of it's salient attractions is lower noise and distortion than any AVP that has preceded it.
The first limited production shipment has gone out. I believe it's mainly dealer demo units though. I believe our UK units for this have landed so i'm hoping to be hands on asap.
This is actually on my short list. The reason why is not because of it's measurements...yet, but its because of the service I've received from AVpro Global on a second hand Maestro x9s. These guys's and gals bent over backwards for me - like I was the original owner. The communication was great (although they didn't answer my chat - they phoned me directly the same day). I'm excited about this processor and I pray that it measures well. I hope Amirm gets the opprotunity to measure this product.
I had a play with our demo unit briefly this afternoon, especially with the speaker layouts. Not yet connected to anything but the network and power.
If you want a non 'standard' speaker layout, ie not one off it's preset list. Then you can go for one including all the speakers you want and then delete off the outputs/speakers you don't want and it will create a custom layout. My random testing with this created a Custom 9.1.5 output for example.
My dealer just notified me that my unit shipped. Looking forward to getting it. Most importantly I need Dirac working. It’s still listed as coming soon.
I was so used to Marantz/Denon's gui and the way they did things, when I got my X9S - it's been a learning curb...and that's before I ever took a measurement with Dirac. I'm beginning to see that my X9S can do everything my Eversolo dpm-6 can do!!! So if its better than the x9s...yeah a lot to do...like naming inputs, configuring each input, setting your hdmi, CEC, zones, configuring your ethernet and or wifi, OSD options. When it finally gets Dirac...you'll have three slots or more to put filters in.

Years ago I was inspired by Zissou's AVS thread comparing lots of different AVPs, and did the same for myself. I often complained about the time and effort to integrate and test AVPs, as they're so much more complicated than any other audio equipment. I got my thoughts together and wrote a list of all the things that can stop you doing the simplest thing like getting any audio output, and this is well before Dirac enters the scene:
1. Listening mode
2. Digital input
3. Audio select
4. Pure audio
5. Monitor out
6. Input assign
7. Audio TV output
8. TV control enable
9. HDMI control
10. Speaker settings
11. Muting
12. Headphones
13. Zone 2/3 output
14. Record out
15. Bi-amp output
16. Power amp
17. Interconnects
18. LFE output level
19. Auto DRC disable
20. Pure audio mode
Plus you can listen to it without Dirac, and see if you like it. PGAM is deeply into audio and has lots of very interesting gear, and there are lots of comparisons to do.
I'm rather jealous, and keen to hear what he thinks.
Agreed, but tweaking is a cup just like any cup. At one point it gets filled up. Mine full to the edge after like 20 years or so. My hobby is now tied to the content not really to hardware. Probably that cup will also get filled, but then there are always the books and social activities .
Good news is that with ART there is not much to tweak. Lots of threads where one can grasp the support concepts in various setups and then auto ART is about 90% as good as many tweaks applied thereafter. That is if you don't consider super advanced and very nuanced approaches like "envelopment" and stereo bass.
It truly is - but then there was a world before Blades as well. Some of the speakers you favorably reviewed 20 years ago are still available as new, and probably represent a great value. Time is a relative thing, and we should embrace it as such till the very end.
