I will look it up.
Whenever I buy FLAC files (eg bandcamp - and I've never had a fake from them) I always run them through "LosslessAudioChecker". It's pretty easy. It can have false positives, but which are explainable. Often, bonus tracks fail, typically live recordings, which is OK.

It's fun to try an alternative - let's see how the apps compare!

I'm surprised Tidal gave you a file that is fake. Not that I have ever tried Tidal.

I know you can simply change filetype from "*.mp3" to "*.flac" and media players won't care - the file will get played, as the right codec gets selected anyway. I just tried with FB2K, and a file played, but showed the playing details correctly for an MP3. MediaInfoLite will also pull out the codec details and tell me the file is an MP3 (ignoring filtetype). Obviously this quick test is not about files that appear to have proper FLAC comtents that are "compromised". I will try on some FLACs I ripped myself from my own CDs first!...

The exe that I have was created by the authors 8 years ago.
I have quite a few apps going back up to 20 years that work well for me.

yes, it will not work. that Audio-Checker-GUI Github is for a web interface for that outdated utility. that i am not going to test

I don't doubt it at all. And I have used Spek.

If there is a nice GUI for it (like LAC in my pic), I'll try it!

I have written lots of scripts for running up many small tools - it's not that I cannot use cmd/PS tools, it's that I'm lazy... When I get a FLAC album, after LAC, I run it through Advanced Renamer, MP3Tag and FB2K (for ReplayGain), in my quest for OCD consistency, so, less typing and clicking is handy for me.
