The de-embedder I linked to in Post #10 will do what you want.
You must not set your players DSD output to PCM though as it will defeat the purpose.

I was but for PCM only.
Switched to this one which is what would suit you.

Oh, I see. OK, that one is I2S and sadly, I don't have an I2S DAC. Appreciate the recommendation, however. I'd have to use SPDIF optical, which I believe is 24/192 max.

Looks like it supports DoP so would be fine with optical. DSD64 will come in under 192.

Sounds good. Right now, I'm getting 24/176.4 with DoP, playing a DSD64 disc through my current extractor. So I'm good, right?

Not sure if you wish to push your SQ further but latest option from much appreciated innovative chinese designers/mfgrs.

Have only 1x or 2x sacd dual layer and 1x dvd audio disc but my cambridge audio 4k cxuhd is collecting dust on rack and no harm to have sacd/dvd-audio player source option. All sacd/blue ray players incorporate copyright protection that convert 1bit dsd to pcm if not using built-in dac for analog output only .. read of this years ago that changes everything but revived home hifi interest prompts this next audio project. Disc playing typically best music files ...

While there are cheaper option of only hdmi i2s dsd capable ones, they cannot do dsd dop via coaxial and optical which this can at rmb460 as added options but importantly, seller offer improved low noise 0.8uv psu board at rmb150 unseen elsewhere. He even have cost effective rmb1.2k and 1.8k versions with femto and oxco clocks of expected much lowered jitters without added rmb150 0.8uv psu option but not needed for me as I am using denafrips ddc to strip expected any source clocks to sync to higher graded oxco clock in denafrips terminator plus de dac .. mm away from r2r ladder for shortest path.

If you use an HDMI de-embedder to get digital audio signal to an external DAC...what are you using? Or if you tried it but no longer do, please share...

I looked into an HDMI audio extractor some years ago and ultimately abandoned the idea. Instead I use Sonore software and a (cheap) Sony BDP-S390 Blu Ray player w/thumb drive to rip the DSD songs on an SACD disc directly to DSF files on my Windows laptop [via WiFi]. Windows, Mac, and Linux OS are supported, as are many brands and models of Blu Ray players. See: Down the Rabbit Hole of SACD Ripping and DSD Extraction Note that both stereo and multi-channel extractions are supported, as are both hybrid SACDs and pure SACDs.

From that same Windows laptop (running JRiver's Media Center), I now stream these DSF files into the USB input of a Benchmark DAC3B via DoP.
