Ive had a pair of these for a couple of months. I got them as a refurb/ open box for around £250 and have used for a bit of casual gaming and music. For music I USB cable them to an Android phone running UAPP with some EQ. EQ is pretty minor and due to taste rather than a must have.

I would strongly suggest to anyone planning on buying a DAC, amp and headphones to think about a pair of these instead. Very comfy, well made and great sound.

They see very versatile with both usb connection and ldac. Also Audeze drivers respond very well to EQ due to their low thd.

The only if is the weight on the heavier side

Yeah , they aren't light . But compared to the LCD they are a far easier wear.

When I ordered I had hoped I could commute in them. But too bulky and not foldable and you'd probably want some ANC. But travel clearly isn't the intended use case . .

I heard that the earcups are too thin and you risk rubbing your skin with the rigid structure. is that true?
I find them fine tbh- I hate too small cups/ pads. More room for me in the Maxwell than say HD600

Anyone that has comfort problems with them, i recently designed one of my comfort straps for them. It improves the comfort significantly just like my HD600-series and Dan Clark straps. Its wider, flexible, breathable and as a bonus you dont need a screwdriver to adjust it, it just snaps on and off the posts as its flexible material.

I sold my RME and headphones to buy a Maxwell. Don't regret it. :)

Not exactly the one mentioned above, but I also recommend 3D printed headstrap replacement for better comfort.

I've printed my own comfort strap by CapraAudio and I literally can't go back to the original leather strap lol
Yes the original leather one is quite narrow and uncomfortable, same with the Dark Clark Aeon/Ether straps. People that buy them from me are always pleasantly surprised on the difference it makes.

I just picked up an open box set for £231 from Peter Tyson and agree they are very impressive. I wish there was a bit more clamping force but otherwise they are great and think I'll need keeping them. Thanks for the recommendation @Jimbob54

That’s a helluva good price for them, :D

Nice, you should e-mail that to Audeze
I actually spoke to them a while back while designing it. I posted on reddit as I was looking for someone local in Toronto with the Maxwells, the founder of the company reached out to me and loaned me the Maxwells so I could design my strap. I was amazed that they were willing to help a little guy make something for their headphones, it really impressed me. Its been a pleasure to deal with Audeze, their head industrial designer is a fellow Toronto resident. Cant say enough nice things about them.

Comfort is a major issue for big planars. Super wholesome that they were open to your design.

Yea they are great headphones but i was a bit surprised by the weight, the strap does help with that though. Again awesome company, most would not give the time of day to a small manufacturer.

Does anyone have issues with the earcups falling off. My box came with a bit of a hit to the outside and a gash to it. Right as I took them out I realized the right ear cup was not attached. It fell off 3 times and the left on did also once. They sounded just terrible for me for 2 days, i tried reinstalling the audeze software a few times. After about the 5th reinstall I finally got them to actually sound pretty good compared to my initial few times (like my kids cheap amazon hp sounded better that they use on the iPads to play education games, and they suck)
I just couldn't take the ear cups continually coming off so I sent them back.
