I can get these for free but a 2 hours drive. Are they worth it ? See image......
You have previously written that you are thinking about buying some speakers and fixing them up, freshening them up. A little DIY light if I understood correctly. Why not buy some more well-known brands/models and fix them up? Here is a tip, maybe it can give some inspiration:
I am now in the apartment in the city so I can't do much, BUT I bought a pair of Audio Pro Black Diamond. I got them at a really good (low) used price because they had a scratch on the top of one of them.
I have played with them. They sound good and Audio Pro is good at bass. With downfiring port, it is,considering the size of the woffer and box, as good bass as you can hope for. I don't need a sub with them for my small living room.
They measure well in my room. Just as nice/straight, as my Wharfedale Diamond 220 (a model which Amir measured).
The bass difference is like night and day in Audio Pro's favor, though.
Okay. Here is the scratch and the first paint.

Needs a few coats.
Edit:
First painting. Needs one more coat then it will be good. Can't see the scratch then.

I had to sand with wet sandpaper before painting.

I sawed at the lumber yard from what I found in the scrap pile into two base plates that I will place them on. They also require a few coats of paint. Here is the first coat.
