I thought that with the soon to be released Mini-DSP Tide 16 I might dip my toe again into the multi ( channel )verse.
I have tried before, using an Illusonic processor for a tri-field Kii set-up, which I enjoyed but space was always at a premium.
But now we have enough space to create a proper ‘Atmos/multi channel’ set-up.
The MiniDSP has 16 an analogue outs on XLR, so connection is straightforward, I have Roon and I know that can be configured for 5.1/7.1 as well as 2 channel.
I use Quboz which I believe doesn’t list M/C music amongst its catalogue?
How much made for M/C music is there or will I predominantly listening to up mixed 2 channel.
Is the Tide 16 the ‘best’ option, from the thread here it doesn’t appear to be a completely finished product, I wrote to Hyperion , no reply.
Your help as always is very much appreciated.

Apple Music and Pure Audio Streaming I think are your best bets now for MCH music

Probably need to switch to (or add) Apple Music. Lots of native immersive program in all genres.

One big downside of Tide16 for 2-channel legacy recordings is that it doesn’t have a good upmixer built in. Really needs Auro IMO. If you’re able to source a Monoprice HTP-1 it’s a considerably more capable box.

That’s helpful J, Roon has two options for multi channel 5.1 and 7.1, discussed here,
