Even though I have two subwoofers in my system, I still let the SCM40s play their "full-range", and the two REL S/510 subwoofers only take over the bass duties below the natural roll-off of the main speakers. I have them set up in a stereo configuration, and the result is a completely seamless integration as if the SCM40s were just more bass-capable on their own. This is the most transparent and seamless integration of subwoofers I have ever achieved in my system, as the subwoofers never reveal themselves as separate speakers.

I think you should be able to accomplish this with way less expensive subwoofers than the ones I use. My suggestion is that you try using a low crossover point and let your SCM40s play their full range, as they already have a very low level of distortion all the way down in the bass range, and therefore do not really require a highpass filter, at least not for that reason alone.

The graph I posted is the ATC SCM40 on its own, just to show the low level of distortion these speakers have. There's no subwoofer in that measurement. Sorry for not being clear enough on that in my previous post.

EDIT: What do you mean by the graph being misleading? It's a distortion graph meant for seeing both the fundamentals and the distortion, something a 50dB window doesn't have room for, at least not for this loudspeaker.

ATC subs have always seemed wildly overpriced to me. This one is 15" but only has a 300 W amplifier.

I own and like their SCM40 speakers though, so not bashing on the brand in general.

Seems like everything they make is overpriced.

They are one of many popular brands in studios, not necessarily the most popular.

ATC is a fairly small manufacturer, and I think they sell pretty much everything right at the moment they make it. I realized that on two occasions, as there was a waiting time even for their hifi entry series speakers. Both my center speaker (C3C) and my surround speakers (SCM11) had a manufacturing date a few weeks after the ordering date.

If you sell everything like hot cakes, the price of their speakers may even be undervalued, at least if you see it purely from a marketing view.
It’s probably not that cheap to make everything in-house in a European country, with fairly high salaries and everything else expected in such a country like health care and paid vacations.

Hand built in the south of England using in house designed and made drivers rather than the mass market ones would make them much more expensive than most others.
It always surprises me how Genelec control their prices of the "ones" but I suppose they have the advantage of scale?

I'm absolutely certain I've explained this in this thread before.

This is a Northward thing and part of his design philosophy is a hard front wall with flush mounted mains, with all other surfaces (other than the floor) being absorbent, with just enough diffusion to make the room not feel dead.

I believe ATC have approached the UK’s only Klippel NFS owner but balked at the cost.
I can’t see any advantages for ATC in having their products measured.

I had a couple of weeks wait in 2017, but that seems entirely reasonable especially as the dealer lent me his demo pair. In the UK I think ATCs are great value, especially compared to PMC which might notionally be considered a British-made rival.

Surely there is more than just one Klippel NFS in the whole of the UK...

ATC and PMC have the unfortunate distinction of being brands that will almost certainly go out of business once the last generation to mix music on their junk dies. They haven't innovated in decades and are wholly irrelevant.
