As far as I am aware there is only one NFS in the UK.

My hope is that we'll see the NFS improve some of their quirks without compromising everything good about them (lots of dynamic range, low compression and distortion, etc).I had always thought they used an NFS but apparently not. A friend of mine (who has SCM20 actives) asked one of their R&D guys recently and the answer was either outdoor measurements or an anechoic chamber.
Quite a bit over my budget, though it would be interesting to see a test (including below 20Hz).
A monitor doesn't give the truth !Short answer: they measure poorly, which makes them unsuitable for use as monitors (a monitor needs to give you the truth).
$7k for a single 15" powered sub with no dsp. Guess that's ATC for ya.

ATC subs have always seemed wildly overpriced to me. This one is 15" but only has a 300 W amplifier.
I own and like their SCM40 speakers though, so not bashing on the brand in general.
The SCM40s are great speakers, and I see no reason to swap them for something else any time soon, but they do need subwoofers for a truly full-range sound. But with a pair of subwoofers, there's nothing left in an audio recording that these speakers can't reveal.
I would love to hear ATC subwoofers in my system, but the price is definitely too high for my liking, especially as I prefer having at least two subwoofers in my system.![]()
With the purchase of the Geithain RL 901K speakers, you get a pair of 16-inch subwoofers almost for free...![]()
You'll note from my signature that I do have a subwoofer, although actually I've not had a speakers long and have been too busy to go through the process of getting the sub properly integrated and so am listening to the SCM40s full-range right now. These are speakers I'd heard and many times and liked before so snapped them up when a pair became available locally to be at a sensible price. No regrets.
Even though I have two subwoofers in my system, I still let the SCM40s play their "full-range", and the two REL S/510 subwoofers only take over the bass duties below the natural roll-off of the main speakers. I have them set up in a stereo configuration, and the result is a completely seamless integration as if the SCM40s were just more bass-capable on their own. This is the most transparent and seamless integration of subwoofers I have ever achieved in my system, as the subwoofers never reveal themselves as separate speakers.
I think you should be able to accomplish this with way less expensive subwoofers than the ones I use. My suggestion is that you try using a low crossover point and let your SCM40s play their full range, as they already have a very low level of distortion all the way down in the bass range, and therefore do not really require a highpass filter, at least not for that reason alone.

How inexpensive!
It is far from being the same thing. It's seems to be the standard price
I wonder what would Neumann's 15 inch would cost if they had oneView attachment 497452
Appears to be a rearranged SCM110. That layout is not my favorite. They have some new centre channel monitors available too.
