Why don't all speaker brands use waveguides is beyond me
Waveguides are most impactful in 2-way or 3-way speakers, they may not be as necessary in 4-way or more complex speaker configurations. Especially with Horbach-Keele crossover filters. Why don't all speaker brands use waveguides is beyond me

This is why I continually say that if they crossed 500hz lower the directivity match would be fine. Look how narrow the pinch at the top of the mid's range is - it only starts being a thing around 3000hz.
I'm pretty sure I would not reliably be able to distinguish between them. But then I have no listener training. If you compare the measurements of the SCM40 and the SCM11. What perceived sound differences would you expect, focusing on the overall sound and how that is affected by the directivity matching between drivers?
The crossover points are at 3.5 kHz for the SCM40 and 2.2 kHz for the SCM11. (I know you know that, but for other participants...)

Have a read of this.I believe that Trained listening is more about being able to describe what you are hearing (as opposed to knowing that you are hearing something but cannot accurately describe what the issue you are hearing is).
It doesn't mean that you don't hear an issue.
SAF (Spousal Acceptance Factor is very LOW!) unless you have a dedicated room.Wow I never imagined the size difference was so big

I can't blame herMy wife prefered the one on the upper left of the wall and said "No way" to the other 2.
My setup is about 3/4 the size of the walnut one, that seems to be her limit. At least for the living room.
She likes the current crop of Corvettes because, as she put's it, 'they have big asses". But she prefers being in a modest SUV because she is under 5'2". I raised her 2025 Subaru CrossTrek Premium 2" & she loved it even more.I can't blame her
I rarely see women that get excited about big speakers
Best of two worlds: this studio uses Genelec for meter bridge monitors, and ATC for mid-field.
You mean a dedicated room for the spouse, rightSAF (Spousal Acceptance Factor is very LOW!) unless you have a dedicated room.
Yes, 150's are some of the real deals, but not as the picture shows them.Wow I never imagined the size difference was so big

Correct assessment. If someone wants to do them justice better flush-mount them and be done with it.
They really aren't particularly warm, maybe compared to Genelecs which trend pretty bright, but...And another, ETC's never had the fame of "warm" or so, in contrary, amongst the traditional audiophile communities they are considered rather cold and "analytical".
Probably because of their studio usual duties.
I would get to believe they got their fame as cold because of their usual lean, tight bass of the smaller models (in combination with everything else) along with amps that work constantly at their clipping points with such a low sensitivity.Correct assessment.
