A recent comment set me off;

Post in thread 'Need an amp for low ohm speakers' https://audiosciencereview.com/foru...an-amp-for-low-ohm-speakers.64161/post-235281

The bit that caught my attention was that (paraphrasing) there are straightforward calculations that can be carried out that help with objective comparisons.

I tend to use the ones on Crown's website but if other members use different ones then we might be using different assumptions. There are probably niche calculations not catered for online too.

Is there any interest in a set of ASR calculators, developed by experienced members or endorsed. There could be a range of calculators, a discussion on when to use them and when they don't apply etc

Out of my skill set to actually develop these but happy to read up and help if I can.

Any interest?

True, and thanks for the link. There are a number of calculators around. I was wondering if comparisons and explanations would be simpler if we all used the same ones. From that I wondered if ASR members could define 'better', or more useful ones.

There are a few calculators and utilities I tend to recommend frequently in threads here (SPL calculator and tone generator, specifically) - wouldn't be a bad idea for ASR to have those, but on the other hand, maybe that would be hogging too much SEO traffic ;)

Most definitely! I like to actually integrate them into a tab in the forum if they can be embedded. Or have someone create one using our platform API.

ChatGPT, write me a calculator for... :cool:

The nicest full overall I know f is the Benchmark ones, tons of info with every parameter considered (ok, maybe not for EQ, etc but these can be added) :

Yeah, pretty remarkable turnaround on the calculator just then, (wow) but I think the # of speakers, distance, and watts (in addition to voltage) input would be useful.

Why would anyone truly interested in audio completely want to outsource their decision making, though? It'll magically always arrive at the same recommendation in ASR, I'd expect.
