AsciLab speakers are about to launch

Do you mean h3 levels above Fs?
Mass controlled range means almost no excursion range = high frequency of a driver.
In that range the non-linearity cause of excursion doesn’t affect H3, only VC hysteresis distortion is there.

Generally H3 of mass controlled range reflect magnetic hysteresis distortion.
yes, odd order distortion that scales slowly with level is the finger print. Best measured on the current since there is typically more noise and distortion in an acoustic measurement.

PTT1.3T has so low odd order distortion so I should measure repeated sine sweep 128 times to reduce noise to see its pure distortion. ;)

The website is listing C8C. Is this 8” ceramic driver with cardioid design?

It’s active cardioid. The side woofers are 8“ I believe. I think the dual front midrange is 6,5“ but not entirely sure.

What's happened to the C5C and the C6C, or have I missed something?
Nothing has changed from the previous plan, only the name has changed :) Originally, they decide to name it a mid-range size, but now they decide to call it the size of the largest woofer

IIRC, the C5C was planned to have dual 7" woofer, so maybe it will be the C7C instead?

@AsciLab
what is the minimum and recommended listening distance/range for these speakers?

and how close to the wall do you guys suggest we should put it at minimum/what is the range??

I am not @AsciLab but have listened to F6B (S), C6b and A6b at a metre’s distance and placed them close to the wall with no issues whatsoever, remembering of course that you will receive more reinforcement so you ‘may’ have to deal with any room interaction but that is the case with any loudspeaker.
They are just superb loudspeakers.

Thanks for the answer but if I'm looking at ~0.5m would that be too close? Just wondering cus I was looking at it for a desktop set but I could do some speaker stands around computer desk setup if they NEED to be farther

We have a new AsciLAB delivery this week, so I will try listening at 0.5m and get back to you.

S6B enclosure. Look at those openings for 8" passive radiators and that nice interior bracing.

this reminds me of the KEF Reference Series ( which is not the worst Brand range to share similarities with). they also have a vertical bracing spine:

Received a response from Ascilab this morning
"The S6B is currently in preparation for release and is expected to launch in December at the earliest or early next year at the latest."
