AsciLab speakers are about to launch

You can’t demo them anywhere yet as they haven’t been released!

Sure! I mean once they are avaible. The official ascilab distributor for Germany is audiophonics who don’t offer a trial period. According to German law I could withdraw from the purchase within 14 days after receiving them but not a big fan of ,,abusing“ the return policy.

That’s where Audiophonics and I differ, I want completely satisfied customers.

As I expect, S6B(Full Purifi driver 2 way passive speaker) will be released first. Then C6C(Active Cardioid 3 way bookshelf) and C8T(passive floor stander). S6C will be much later as current plan.
Can you please, in short words, tell the difference between the A6B and the future S6B?
S6C in 2026 or 2027?

The A6B has a purifi woofer but no purifi tweeter with a custom waveguide. The S6B has all purifi drivers and I believe larger passive radiators.

Hm, these differences would be sooooo tiny, given the fact that the original tweeter with all his special capabilities (running down to 1100 Hz, with increadible sound pressure capabilities and nearly no distortion even at 96 dB) is not something I would like to be replaced by a Purify tweeter, which could be only more costly but really better???

If you really want to know: wait for the measurements ;o)

I do think there was a measurement somewhere in this thread. It didn’t have a cut out in the vertical dispersion which means the sound quality sweet spot is wider and the directivity was somewhat smoother and wider all the way to above 15k which all together can make quite a difference in sound perception. But of course hard to tell without actual listening.

The waveguide is custom designed for the SB acoustics tweeter.
As soon as the S6B is available I will compare the two side by side.

The SB Acoustics tweeter shows some very slight compression at 95 dB around the crossover region since it is crossed very low.

The bigger change between the S6B and the A6B as I understand it, is that the S6B's tweeter will be fitted with a waveguide that has a 60° directivity instead of a 50° directivity. That should make directivity matching a little smoother as well as create more side reflections.

I recall the woofer wasn't wired hence no lobbing with the tweeter.

You may think of it as 'abusing' the return policy, but the reason the right of return exists in the distance selling regulations is that you can't assess the product in person before purchase.

I think it's only abusing the system if you're constantly trying things out. What's worse is when some use the clothes they have purchased and THEN send them back (fast fashion)
They often end up in a landfill

perhaps : lower distortion, wider dispersion, much less hysteretic magnetic distortion. time will tell.
How would that appear on a distortion chart? What kind of distortion chart would it appear on? I mean on the acoustic measurement of a speaker unit.

Generally H3 of mass controlled range reflect magnetic hysteresis distortion.
