AsciLab speakers are about to launch

I'm in Florida. I placed my order for a pair of C6B's on May 2 and received them on May 29. $200 shipping was all I paid, no additional fees.
Pls keep us posted. I'm looking at possibly purchasing a pair of A6b's later in the year. Never imagined it would be this kind of hassle with duties, tariffs, etc.
IDK why anyone would think this kind of thing will redound to anyone's economic benefit, regardless of nation or political affiliation.

@AsciLab congratulations on your recent reviews from Amir and Erin.

I wonder if you have in your roadmap any floorstanding models based on the 2-way models, essentially extending the enclosure and adding additional woofers making them 3-way.

My thinking is that the US should be a big market for you and with bigger average room sizes and a preference for extended and powerful bass, your current 2-way stand mount speakers will not always suit.

I realise customers can add subwoofers but I believe the 3-way tower is a better solution for many customers with larger rooms and sometimes they still require a subwoofer with towers.

Your upcoming cardioid with optional bass extending base will no doubt be a phenomenal product, but I would like to see 3-way single cabinet models with high 80s or low 90s dB sensitivity, with more cone area for better bass dynamics and depth, but with high value price points.
We are currently preparing a new product under the concept of a "bass stand." You can find a brief overview of the concept at the link below.

Due to the high cost of international shipping, we initially focused on launching compact 2-way bookshelf speakers to minimize shipping expenses. However, as we establish dealers in various countries and regions, we plan to expand our lineup to include 3-way floorstanding speakers. In line with our company motto, “Best performance in its price range, lowest price for its performance,” we are committed to delivering a 3-way floorstanding speaker that truly lives up to that standard.

I like the sound of that.

Thanks! That’s terrific news and your quick response is much appreciated.

Looking forward to more updates and reviews.

@AsciLab which one of your speakers is best for a close to back wall (about 1 foot) and asymmetric (2 feet from wall on one side, 10 feet on the other) type space? I have an open older open concept home, so its not ideal for many speakers.

I have DSP etc, but want to keep things as simple as can be if possible.

Ordered June 1st, arrived in Colorado June 5th. No add-on fees of charges besides the $200 shipping.

Fed Ex did a number on the box, but my wife says it looks like the speakers are fine.

Double boxing maybe is something to consider. Not that much of costs added.

I'm interested in purchasing a pair of C6B's, but I'm in the US (California specifically). Since this costs over $800, that means I will be charged with custom duties since it's shipping from South Korea, correct? I tried searching high and low for the percentage tax that will be charged, but I can't find a direct answer. Even ChatGPT isn't coming up with anything. Does anybody know specifically?

Also I see that the C6B is has a 4ohm impedance rating. Will something like a Yamaha A-S500 amplifier suffice?

I don't see any mention of it being capable of handling a 4ohm load, but looking at customer reviews on Crutchfield's website, people are saying it works perfectly fine with 4ohm speakers.
I ordered about a week ago, shipping due Friday. I only paid the shipping costs, no tariffs or anything else.

Gift (inner) box + shipping carton is common, (but may cost a few dollars extra, actually) and depending on your shipping carrier for, extra size / weight will tend to affect the cost noticeably.

Just got home from work and unboxed and inspected the speakers. Whatever punctured the box barely nicked the edge of the front baffle on one of the speakers.

The C6B's are shipped with both speakers facing the long side of the box. My only suggestion would have the speaker facing in, towards each other, so only the passive radiators are exposed.

That's the custom's 'Eeek' test where they check if something's living in in the box with a fork...

But seriously: if it's non-penatrating it's irrelevant. If penatrated: (chewing)gum.

@AsciLab In view of the pictures above and based on my experience, for international shipping you need a thick layer of expanded polystyrene foam surrounding tightly the speaker in their box.

They do have exactly that, but where there’s a will there is a way!

In the past, I have received a bill from Fed-X for tariffs or duties after a product has been delivered. For whatever reason they choose to deliver your package on time and then ask for the money on the backend rather than holding the package until you’ve paid those fees.

It may take some time to produce the additional boxes, but we will do our best to provide stronger packaging with double-box packing as soon as possible.
Before final packaging, we will also add an inspection step to ensure that no further issues occur.
Thank you for sharing the photos and details with us.

Well dang, I got them hooked up and started with some Fink "trouble's what you're in" and immediately noticed something was off. The left speaker's tweeter was not working. I swapped L/R to isolate it to the speaker and not my equipment. Going to contact Ascilab and see how they want to proceed.

Edit: it's the speaker without the tiny indention that is faulty.

We apologize for the inconvenience. It appears that the tweeter was damaged due to impact when the box was damaged. We will do our best to send you a replacement as soon as possible and will follow up with a message shortly.
