AsciLab speakers are about to launch

Our room acoustics brand is called Acousticfuser, and although we currently only manufacture and sell in Korea, you can view various installation examples on our Instagram page.

Very cool, I see a lot of curved 2D BAD panels, as far as I know this is the most practical type of acoustic treatment for most rooms. Do you generate your own number sequences? This is a type of equation I didn't learn in school... I'm trying to build some of my own using my 3D printer sometime soon, but I don't have a sequence for the correct width.

Although this thread has been around for a few months, I only discovered it today.

This is by far the most interesting audio project to emerge over the last few years.

Congratulations to AsciLab for their diligent efforts, as well as their bravery to post here and receive opinions, ideas, praise and criticism from the knowledgeable ASR community.
Their decision to send samples for 3rd party review is also commendable and it shows they have faith in their products.

I am also awaiting with excitement the results of an Amir review in the near future.

I was contemplating of buying a pair of LS50 Meta as my end-game speaker, but now I will wait for this one to see how it compares.

@ascilab : I wish you every success re: this project. It is indeed a worthwhile effort.

Is there any chance the voice coil position being changed due to components aging or shocks during transportation?
It can be. But I guess it will be much less than woofer. Tweeter doesn't move large excursion, and very light. Even If it will be changed, the important point is that start point is neutral.

I'm not sure we understood each other correctly, my understanding was that these tweeters can arrive to you with a rest position that is not perfect, manufacturer tolerances are not good enough, and because you are using the tweeter at the full specified excursion, this can lead to distortion and other issues.

To fix this, you are tweaking the rest position so that it fits your standards.

So, the rest position is sensitive and can be changed, are there other mechanisms through which the rest position can be changed again unwillingly after you have shipped the speaker, whether is is suspensions aging or shipping shocks?

I meant, shock and aging you said. Suspension stiffness tends to be loosen by time and driving, but it is more about woofer. Tweeter doesn’t move long excursion as possible to loose stiffness. And for shock, tweeter and waveguide assemble are tightly jointed. And tweeter moving mass is also too tiny little to be repositioned by shipping shock.

You don’t have to worry.

OK, thank you for the explanation, this is clearer for me now. :)

By the way, will there be any difference with regards to group delay and phase alignment between the passive and active versions?

Yes. For active version we can use FIR option, So both low latency and linear phase version will be available.

We also consider wood enclosure too, but not in near future. Our enclosure material have lot of advantages than wood.

Passive cardioid has higher odd harmonics in the range that through cardioid hole. Typically midbass range.
We are going to design cardioid speaker only with active DSP.
@ascilab: Are there any plans to develop a full active cardioid speaker and what would be the timeline?

We’ll launch A6B Active first. After the success that model, next one can be discussed. If it’ll be, I’m very looking forward to show you something great.

Our long term goal is a full-range cardioid speaker assemble with bass stand.

Ok, everybody, so please buy lots of A6B so that we get to the next step ;-)

Btw, what is the timeline for A6B market entry? Are there plans to make it available in Europe as well? Please excuse if this was answered already previously.

We surely have a plan to sell world-widely.
Distributors are not decided yet. After finish our first batch in Korea(on going), we are going to open our official website and get ready to open pre-order.

Hello everyone,

It's been a while, and I'm excited to share some great news with you.

In Korea, pre-orders for AsciLab's C5B, C6B, and A6B models have recently begun. Given the previous lack of reliable manufacturers here, I'm genuinely thrilled by this development.

In thinking about how to make the most of this opportunity, I have planned a new measurement event and would like to share the details with you.

It's important to note that AsciLab is still an unproven manufacturer, and even though they possess the Klippel NFS system, we should never fully trust the data provided solely by any manufacturer.
Thus, cross-validation is necessary.

Many of the pre-order applicants in Korea resonated with this idea and agreed to have their product shipments redirected to my studio.
Consequently, I will be receiving 7 pairs of A6B and 6 pairs of C6B, including the official samples from the manufacturer, and plan to measure them all in one day.

To minimize human error and prevent bias during the measurements, I am inviting voluntary observers from the Korean audio community, where I am an active member. They will help ensure no mishaps occur while handling the 13 pairs of speakers and monitor that I adhere correctly to the measurement processes and principles.

If everything goes smoothly, AsciLab will gain credibility for their product performance and quality control.
I will enhance the reliability of my measurement system and reviews by cross-referencing with AsciLab's Klippel NFS system.
The participating pre-order applicants will enjoy thoroughly validated speakers, and the ASR community will benefit from a wealth of comparative data to explore and discuss.

Of course, I am prepared to accept any unforeseen circumstances that may arise. I promise to be transparent about any results, no matter what they may be. All processes will be shared openly with the observers. Let's hope for the best possible outcomes.

I anticipate the event will take place around September.

Thank you. :)
Any update on this event? Thanks!

There may be a mistake in the Spinorama upload. Anything under 300 Hz is about 2dB lower in the new measurement vs the old.

Also, what's the nominal sensitivity, nominal impedance and power handling of each model?
