AsciLab speakers are about to launch

What are they and are they active and can I have a pair please?

They are active speaker made before the start of Ascilab.

It was DSPed using anechoic measurements and ground plane measurements, when Ascilab didn't own a NFS.

It is mainly there waiting for NFS measurements, but it was used for developing cardioid bass module and occasional subjective comparison with the prototypes of Ascilab speakers.

Due to limited supply and price of drivers used, Ascilab is searching alternative ways to make it more affordable and doable.

The speaker is two part with typical three way upper module and two way bass module, which can also be used as single cardioid bass module.

It's large size is mainly due to the port tuning of the box, Purifi 10" wasn't released when the speaker was made.

About the bass modules Ascilab is preparing.

It is said they will have two types of module, one for passive line and the other for active.

Type 1, will have no cardioid feature. But it will have speaker output, essentially making the bundle a three-way. Designed for more bass, less distortion, and avoiding floor reflection.

Type 2, will have cardioid feature. Using Fusion modules, the modes can be switched between cardioid and extended bass.

But Ascilab is making changes based on community's opinion. So the plan on bass modules is not fixed.

Production is proceeding smoothly. The PCB color of the A6B will be changed to black.

For a speaker that size, I think a super-high-quality design would be preferred rather than one built down to a price.
And I am worried that Ascilab IS listening to the community- as I noted way upthread: stick to doing it well, not bowing to public opinion or a myriad of private ones
All the best, Ascilab.

We are about to launch a new line of speakers designed using Klippel NFS. The initial lineup is as follows:

Looking forward to seeing the independent reviews from Amir and Erin

Aluminum and Paper.
P6B is limited model in Korea.
We don’t know yet it will be released.
Thank you. I knew the A6B was a passive and couldn't quite figure out why it had an "A" in its naming protocol, and I read earlier in the thread you had a 6 inch speaker which is apparently limited to release in Korea (which is why one of my earlier questions was whether a 6 inch passive would be available for US Sale), and that is evidently the paper coned P6B. So now I have it straight.

Well, if open to input I still feel there is a market hole for cardioid bass modules (type 2) that can be configured to work with any speaker. I have Kef LSX, Genelec 8040b, Neuman Kh120, Kali IN5 lol. Iam imagining a cheaper Genelec W371 / Kii BXT that I can use with any of my speakers.

There are loads of bookshelf speaker owners out there looking at subwoofer options.

As for speakers, your range is rising to the top of my next purchase list!

Today I visited Ascilab again and saw the p6B pcbs.

All capacitors are metalized polypropylene. No metalized polyester or electrolytic,

The coils used for the woofers are nearly 14awg,

The resistors are rated 25W...

Parts used are absolute overkill and I love it.

P.S. I'm not part of Ascilab, I have no personal connection with them.
I happened to live very close to Ascilab showroom, a few minute walk.
So I visit quite often with close acquaintances when they show interests in audio.

Look at the AsciLab logo on the parts!
I want to touch those thick inductors.
I heard they use a black PCB, has that version been made yet?

P6Bs are made with original pcb.

A6Bs are black but they aren't ready yet.

There was one sample a6b with original.

One P6B pcb was mounted to aluminum backplate. Unfinished bare aluminum.

I think the thickness is matched with fusion plate amp for flush finish when mounted to the enclosure.

Personal opinion, pcb spacers and flat head screws will make it look much better.

But those are simple changes and the sample is mostly for checking stiffness and dimension, so overall I think the plate is very decent and much better than piece of MDF.

I don’t see why not, they are essentially a very fine measuring transparent two way, with excellent bass extension and extremely low distortion.

still would love a minimal listening distance, and an acoustical axis, especially since both drivers are fairly far apart for a two way.

But the crossover frequency is very low so the two drivers should theoretically work as a point source...
