AsciLab speakers are about to launch

Since I wouldn't need it (I use iso acoustic decouplers) I would vote for optional, but that's just me. Do they use some sort of spring suspension? They don't look like classic spikes obviously....
Currently hidden from view, there is a conical spike in the center inside, which can be adjusted up to 3mm in height by turning a bolt mechanism.

What is the difference between a waveguide and a horn?

What is the difference between a waveguide and a horn
To my understanding, they are two names for the same thing, with slightly differing use cases. A horn is typically (not always) used with a compression driver and a waveguide is typically used with a dome tweeter / AMT / ribbon. A horn often has a wider frequency range and more depth, but they are both designed and function according to the same acoustic principles. You could say a waveguide is a special case of a very shallow / wide horn or you could just say it's another name for a horn.

It is discussed for years now all over the internet... You might learn something from this thread https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...-between-a-waveguide-and-a-horn.163581/page-3
Thanks, seems like I had it a little backwards. This is apparently from one of the originators of the term in audio... if I am reading correctly, horns are a special case of waveguide and the confusion comes from a set of less precise equations used to design horns before he applied "real" waveguide equations to speaker design, at which point the term "waveguide" entered the speaker design lexicon?

Although it's not yet finalized, we are sharing a concept image for the bass stand designed to enhance bass extension.

When connected to Ascilab passive bookshelf speakers, the bass stand can enhance bass extension.

When connected to Ascilab active bookshelf speakers, it can achieve a cardioid pattern in the bass stand range.

Once the three-way bookshelf speaker supporting cardioid is released, it can be combined with the bass stand to create a full-range cardioid pattern.

Please note that this is still a simple concept and the details are subject to change at any time.

Your pace and skill at this is breathtaking!
Build an active 3-way with all-Purifi drivers and I'm there!
Will $10K USD cover it?

Wow!

So you did come up with a sub integration, but better than I could have imagined.

Is the idea that the bass stand will work with C5B, C6B and A6B? Its potentially a very cool uograde path

Yes. First product will be for passive speakers. It can be a bass extension module ,a speaker stand and a DSP amplifier at once.
Though it won’t be cardioid feature for now, still quite great option for C series.

For active speakers, it will be announced a bit later, similar format but having cardioid feature.

Yep,that would do.
At last a proper bass (and not sub) module.

I suspect that this one can sell on it's own really-really well, even without it's satellites.
At what frequency do you plan to cross it with the bookshelves?

For passive speakers, will the bass module be passive as well with a passive crossover for integration with A6B etc.? I see binding posts in the render as well as the amp.

Bass module will be totally active. The binding post at the back is for connecting to the satellite.

Bass module and satellite are crossed by DSP. Bass module is more like 2-ch dsp amp with bass driver.

Please say that you are wildly interested in the Australian market and shipping product there is a major priority?

Please.
Would be interesting to compare to the March Audio Sointuva AWG. After all, they are quite similar designs.

Indeed and no chance of enclosures cracking.
Keith

There are non solid hardwood options too with the Sointuva if people are worried about the wood cracking
