AsciLab speakers are about to launch

The estimated MSRP for the C8T is around $4500. However, this is not finalized yet, so please treat this as a rough reference only.
This is a lot more than I was hoping considering the price of the C6B.

Edited to add: the data are outstanding though, and I’m sure nothing on the market comes close at that price.

Customers who purchased the C8C and BX8C through dealers will receive their speakers according to each dealer’s individual delivery schedule.

C8C: Shipments from AsciLab to dealers are scheduled to begin in early February.
BX8C: Shipments from AsciLab to dealers will begin with a partial batch in early March, followed by the remaining units starting in late April.

As some dealers receive shipments by air freight while others use sea freight, please contact your dealer directly for the most accurate delivery timeline.

I agree with both thoughts. Even though performance is amazing, I was expecting something around $3500.

I was also expecting the same, circa £3k (UK).

That crossover is a ton of metal though!

Has official pricing been posted? IIRC preliminary estimate was shy of $5k but, as of yet, not confirmed

I was really excited about the C8T, but it seems I won’t be able to afford them. I guess they are similarly priced to R7 meta and probably better. It would be interesting to compare in room response with the extended shelf vs almost cardoid design. Also samish cost to LS60.

To make a simple comparison with the C6B:

For the C6B, one person can assemble and finish one speaker in about one hour. In contrast, the C8T requires two people working for approximately three hours to complete a single speaker. In practical terms, while six C6B units can be produced, only one C8T can be completed in the same amount of time.

This difference in production time and labor is the single largest factor in the pricing.

Is there a reason C8C uses an 8.75-inch aluminum cone woofer and a different type of Wavecor (probably paper cone) woofer? I'm guessing it's due to the unit's depth, but I'm curious if there might be another reason.

It must be C8T you wanted to say, by the way, it’s because about sensitivity and bass alignment tuning. The subwoofer in C8C has too low sensitivity to use passive speaker. And the port should be much more long to have proper bass roll off.

Appreciate the manufacturing cost insight and I don't doubt you. Hopefully, the price does not inhibit sales. Time will tell.

Congratulations on the data for C8T. For a passive design it looks like state of the art. I will just need to save longer to purchase them!

At present, labor costs account for a very large portion of the manufacturing cost of the C8T. We are actively considering ways to reduce this, and we believe that some level of price adjustment may be possible once the planned automation equipment is successfully implemented.

However, since we need to evaluate the actual results after implementation, the currently announced pricing is based on the existing labor cost structure. We are hopeful that the automation system will be fully operational before the official release of the C8T.

For a pair? That's going to eat into the revel and KEF towers pretty hard.

this narrow vertical directivity?

Depends on
- the room acoustics ie reflectiveness vs absorption of the specific ceiling and floor
In some rooms it would be an advantage

- if you listen only when sitting, or like to be able to stand and move around without losing the even FR. The opposite to their narrow vertical directivity (of course) being coaxial
