AsciLab speakers are about to launch

how would you expect room size to affect the C8C? will they do okay in untreated 3x3 room, or do they need a larger space to shine?
If the speaker placement is affected by SBIR, the cardioid behavior of the C8C can help reduce its impact.
This effect is audible even in relatively small rooms, including rooms around 3 × 3 meters in size.

When are the c8t measurements expected.
Due to the physical size of the C8T, we are currently optimizing the NFS measurement process.
A larger number of measurement points is required, which is taking more time than initially expected.
We expect to have preliminary results available next week.

C8C and sub. Could they be mounted on wheels? At least for the first few moments to find the best position? Do they have a threaded bottom?
The BX8C will not come with wheels installed by default. Instead, it will be supplied with dedicated shoes.
Threaded inserts are provided for the shoes, so users may install aftermarket casters if they wish.

So what do you consider an "above SVS" sub brand product?
Subs don't get objectively reviewed all that often
Rythmik is often mentioned. Sometimes HSU or REL. I went with Rythmik and Genelec (which I do not recommend unless you have genelec mains)

SVS is fine I think. I just didn't like the app and the possible implied latency. Rythmik are also smaller and to me look better than svs.

the S6C driver quality is so high I might shoot for a brand above SVS for the subwoofer.. not a dig at SVS
Changing Subwoofers doesnt help for "better" bass frequency output, except trying dipole/ripole subs. The best way, in my opinion, is to go on with bass arrays. There are different ways to try: Single-Bass-Arrays that are geometrically placed on one wall. Double-Bass-Arrays (i use) where the single bass array is mirrored on the opposite wall, delayed and changed in dB and there are multi-sub solutions (Welti).
If u dont want or can use so many Subs, you can improve the Sub in electrical way/with software (like Dirac, or more powerful Acourate - like the pureacouratesound project). The problem is, that when using FIR filter, you improve the playback on ONE listening position. Deviating LP has in return a much worse frequency response.

And important to mention: Especially because of this problem, the low frequency behaviour of speakers in small rooms, cardioid dispersion is helpful to reduce the room impact. But I've never seen an in room measurement comparison between cardioid and non-cardioid speaker. I am really interested to see the deviations in FR and RT.

And last note: Not only the frequency response is important, but also the reverberation time for an enjoyable playback. Bass Arrays can reduce the RT. Softwares can not. Passive room treatment can.

Mine are on carpeting so I leave the wheels on permanently. At 123lbs each, it is extremely convenient...

Whats the combined weight C8C/BX8C?
Does look like it could be quite awkward to move around on some surfaces, particularly if bolted together

I agree it looks tall and heavy BUT it does come apart so that's a much nicer option than trying to move the stack.
Plenty of people on ASR complain about weight so this solution lets you move it piecemeal / less weight, hopefully everyone will be happy with that.
I have wooden floors, so intend to put the whole stack on a wheeled base when first setting up, then taking it off once the optimal position is found. And just leave it there.

It does come apart, but apparently will be bolted together with a metal plate. Its a pain if your just doing lots of small movements trying to optimise position and angle. Imagine having to unbolt and pull apart a 50kg+ system, move 15cm, remeasure - and then work out you have to take apart and move back. Open front, back and side drivers also mean you have to be careful moving the system.

The Herbie gliders look like a neat option.

AsciLab have done a great job with the threaded inserts - they are always forward thinking!, so as mentioned above - even wheels come into play.

Your right though - once set its not an issue.

All true, this part especially I had not considered.
On the (or, on one of the many) upside(s), this speaker will replace four big boxes in my system so getting it right once, even if it is pretty hard work and takes a while, will result in a much neater and less-obtrusive ( and maybe even better-sounding) system.
All the best,

I've used felt-bottomed furniture slider disks on hardwood floors.

Any indication on the expected price yet?

Awesome!
What are you replacing?
I will shift Genelec 8361a into another system to make way.

I hope you make a thread about your impressions.

The combined weight is expected to be around 60 kg.
The cylindrical shoes are fitted with felt pads on the bottom, so moving the speakers on wooden or marble floors should not be an issue.

Wow, you guys really do think of everything!
Any role for isolation devices like isoaccoustics etc.?
