And I understand the focus is elesewhere ( Manufacturing world beaters at sane price), but the website, the naming convention are confusing. Finding one's way through he different models, with very similar nomenclature is a best annoying ... Repeating myself for this observation. I believe such great speakers deserve more clarity in their cataloging.

It’s my personal curious.
How do you feel about Genelec’s numeric naming? Isn’t it confusing too? Or our naming is more confusing in some other way?

What is their - the C8C, and the combination - maximum output capability, at …% distortion.

Preferably the more useful distortion … IMD

AsciLab

For nearly two decades, we have been at the forefront of room acoustics in the Republic of Korea, operating under the name CTI (Cine Tech Int.) and dedicated to creating the finest acoustic environments.

Throughout this journey, we have optimized countless spaces and audio systems, consistently pursuing the highest standards of sound quality.

Now, drawing upon our deep expertise in acoustics and room acoustic treatment, we are proud to introduce our very first loudspeaker — and with it, the launch of our new speaker brand, AsciLab. This marks the culmination of many years of research, experience, and unwavering dedication.

Since entering the loudspeaker market in 2024, AsciLab has rapidly expanded its lineup, building brand value at an exceptional pace through a clear focus on performance-driven design and engineering.

Guided by our motto, “Best performance in its price range, lowest price for its performance,” we remain committed to delivering uncompromising value and maintaining this principle in every product we develop going forward.

At AsciLab, our loudspeakers are engineered using advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and the Klippel Near-Field Scanner (NFS), enabling a level of design precision and measurement accuracy that reflects our commitment to engineering excellence.

AsciLab’s speaker lineup consists of four tiers, ranging from the flagship S series to the entry-level F series.

The current naming conventions you have, as well as those used by Genelec, are fine as long as the website is updated with all relevant details and measurements. Your website is under construction while theirs is well-organized (but not perfect; they are inconsistent since they don't always provide the same level of information for each speaker).

In your case, you have multiple active prototypes discussed in a few forums as well as a website, so a central source of truth is harder to maintain. I think most of the questions asked on ASR are because members don't want to do read threads in full or can't remember where you answered certain questions earlier.

It's a bit easier with Genelec, since they release one new speaker a year, if it's a good year ;)

And while I admire your approach to be very open about development on this forum, it leads to many questions about what's available, what's coming, exact specs... other companies release nothing until it's done and everything is fixed. Can't have it both ways.

First, we created a simplified version so it can be understood intuitively at a glance.
The letters A, C, and F were originally derived from the initial letters of the woofer material names, but to make the tier structure more intuitive, we redefined them using words that correspond to each initial and better describe the product tiers.
We’re currently considering alternatives to “Advanced” for the A series name, and would appreciate suggestions from the ASR community.

We have almost finalized the three preset modes for the BX8C:

Max SPL (100 Hz)

Standard Cardioid (50 Hz)

Extended Cardioid (35 Hz)

We believe the Extended Cardioid mode should help avoid SBIR issues in most listening environments.

In addition, the system now achieves even better vertical directivity than before. We will continue refining everything to achieve the best possible results right up until the start of shipping.
Hi @AsciLab, were you also able to improve the backwards reflection around 500-1.000 Hz? Seems so from the new contour plots, however, it could look also just like that due to different scaling...

That area is hard to be improved. If we improve that area, the frontward directivity will be suffered or cardioid directivity can’be clean as now. Most of reason of that is due to lobbing error cause of larger size side woofer. We chose more important things. If we develop more smaller sized product, it will be improved. But I think now is already great enough.

I find the model numbering method intuitive. I have noticed that people seem to be most confused by the Prefix letter’s meaning and what the model hierarchy is. Some confusion over the differences between Advanced and Signature is apparent too because both models use a Purify woofer.

Woofer size; Always the largest active (or non passive) woofer size!? In Case of the C8C the 8" Side woofers count, Not the 6" Front woofers. In Case of the S6B the 6" purifi Front woofer counts, Not the passives 8" on the Side

It is clear enough, although it's unfortunate to me that the meanings of A C and F needed to be changed retroactively, as it does promote some confusion between those who have followed development for a long time and those who are just arriving. "S" was never entirely intuitive or descriptive, but it was probably an impossible task to make it so.

I would suggest a revised infographic that also references the type of woofer as before, as well as type of tweeter, since so many people seem to have questions about both of those:

F (Foundation series, paper fiber woofers and aluminum dome tweeters)
C (Caliber series, ceramic woofers and ceramic dome tweeters)
A (Advanced series, Purifi woofers and ceramic dome tweeters)
S (Signature Flagship series, all Purifi drivers top-to-bottom)

Some might be saddened that the new tier structure naming leaves behind the purely descriptive, "science based" prefixes. For me, I understand why this must be, but I believe it is still important to include driver types in any kind of summary of the naming scheme. This will hopefully reduce needless questions and help people who are looking for a particular level of driver technology to know where to start.

The C8C is cardioid. Why does the webpage say “Bass Alignment Sealed Type”?
Because the C8C has a sealed enclosure as opposed to ported one, like a bass reflex. Technically, a passive radiator is also a sealed enclosure, but it behaves like a ported one. Anyway, the bass part of the C8C is constructed like a normal sealed enclosure, and the bass behaves like any sealed subwoofer.

The cardioid radiation pattern is achieved by how the sound waves produced by the side drivers interact with the sound produced by the front driver. This is achieved via the positioning of the drivers, their phase alignment and EQ.

Though unless I missed it, not including maximum output

As far as I know, Ascilab hasn't shared that data.
I thought the question was about the C8C …

C8C has a ceramic/alu tweeter, two ceramic/alu mid-woofer at the front, double alu woofers on the sides.
